December is one of my favorite months for blogging because there’s so many fun wrap-up posts to be made and read! Arguably the ~most important~ is the best books of the year lists that everyone comes up with! While this year I didn’t read quite as many books as I had hoped to, I did read many excellent books and the amount of 5 star reads I read this year is over double that of last year! I am thrilled to say that every single book on my “best of” list for 2020 was a strong 5 star rating for me!
*Please note these books are not ranked in any particular- and I don’t know if I could force rank them if you asked me to! Also, not all of these are 2020 releases- they are just the best books that I personally read in 2020.
I’m also linking up with Top Ten Tuesday for this post!
The Simple Wild | Such a stunning read set in Alaska that I slept on for too long!
Wild at Heart | The sequel to The Simple Wild, it’s a rare occurrence when a sequel is just as good as its predecessor, but that’s what happened here!
The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires | I never thought a horror book would make my “best of” list, but I could not put this one down!
The Most Fun We Ever Had | Loved this multi-generational family story! So glad my work book club introduced me to this one.
Such a Fun Age | This one 100% lived up to all of the hype.
What I Carry | A quieter YA novel set in the Pacific Northwest, the story was both poignant and beautiful.
The Heir Affair | The sequel to The Royal We and even better in my opinion!
The Last Train to Key West | I am honestly living for Chanel Cleeton’s historical fiction companion novels that follow the Perez family!
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder | The BEST YA thriller I have read in a long time.
The Grace Year | I have said for years that I am burnt out on dystopian but this book changed that!
Did any of these books make your best of list for 2020? What was your number one book of 2020?
A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder was so good, but I thought the sequel was a little disappointing. I’m hoping book 3 is much better!
Oh no! I had high hopes for it…I also had no idea there was going to be a book 3!
Great list! The Simple Wild and Southern Book Club made my list, too!
The Simple Wild series is my new favorite romance series!
Great list! I love YA thrillers so I really need to give A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder a try.
It’s honestly SO GOOD. A lot of YA thrillers are lackluster (in my opinion) but this one was really well done!
I’ve heard so many good things about The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires.
My post.
It’s really quite a good intro to horror if you’re not too familiar with the genre (I wasn’t!)
The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires was really fun and one of my favorite this year too!
Such an unexpected but fun read!
Wild at Heart was such a favorite of mine this year. It had been about two years since I read The Simple Wild, but it was so easy to slip back into the Alaskan setting and visit with Calla and Jonah again.
It’s so good! Have you read the novella, Forever Wild! It was hard for me to not add it to this list too but I decided to stop myself since it isn’t a full length novel, lol.
