Monthly TBR Plan: November 2018

I’ve made a lot of reading resolutions, and one of them is to be better about cultivating a monthly TBR. I know so many bloggers do beginning of the month TBR posts and I always LOVE reading them, so I’ve decided to post my own as well! I will include my physical, e-book, and ARC TBRs as well as a status update of where I am prior to starting my upcoming month’s TBR. Reading Progress Prior To This Month: 70/80 Books Read We have two months left of 2018, people. TWO MONTHS. As Jonathan from Queer Eye would say, CAN […]

The Royal Runaway by Lindsay Emory | ARC Review

*Huge thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing an review copy free of charge!* If you know my reading tastes at all, you know that word “royals” in a contemporary novel hooks me every.single.time. That’s why I’ve had my eye on The Royal Runaway for a while now, and it’s comp titles are The Princess Diaries and The Royal We (two of my favorite contemporary reads EVER) so I screamed when I was approved for it on NetGalley and immediately dove in once I knew I had some good, solid uninterrupted reading time. The Royal Runaway features a […]

My TBR Cart: My Favorite New Addition to My Home Library

Recently I’d heard online that some folks were making “TBR carts” from the popular three tier carts you can find at some home goods stores. I was shocked I had never thought of the idea before because I’ve had a three tiered rolling cart for YEARS that Max and I bought at Ikea and use as our “drop center” when we exit/enter our house (we keep our keys, receipts, reusable grocery bags, etc. in it). The one we have from Ikea is a dark neutral grey and I decided I wanted to get a fun colored one for my books. […]

What If It’s Us by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera | ARC Review

This ARC and I have been on quite a journey. It wasn’t even on my radar when I attended the 2018 YALLWEST festival and then I heard ~rumors~ that Epic Reads would be giving it away at some point and frantically planned my afternoon around the drop. Too many people ended up attending the event so it turned into a long, tedious, hot raffle in the sun for who would walk away with a copy of this much coveted author mash up. After being convinced it wasn’t meant to be (I never win ANYTHING), my number got called and I […]

Five Things on a Friday [2]

1) Engagement Party Any time I’m not working lately my life has been devoted to wedding planning (which is sadly not as always as fun as it sounds and honestly very anxiety inducing). However, we did finally get to see the fruits of the wedding planning labor when our engagement party finally happened last month! While it was a lot of work to coordinate, we had a blast and it was a good reminder that this is supposed to be a joyous season of our life, and not just a stressful one. 2) Marvel Movies I FINALLY caught up on […]

The Cheerleaders by Kara Thomas | Review

I’m always proclaiming my love of thrillers, yet it feels so rarely do I find YA thrillers that don’t leave me feeling disappointed. They’re often predictable, unbelievable, or over dramatic and lack the ominous feeling that I crave when diving into a thriller. When I heard about The Cheerleaders, I was immediately struck by how simple (and unsettling) the cover was, so I decided to add it to my TBR, hoping it might stand out. I’m happy to report that it did indeed stand out and proved to be an unsettling and surprising story that left my thriller craving self […]

I will include my physical, e-book, and ARC TBRs as well as a status update of where I am prior to starting my upcoming month’s TBR. Heretics Anonymous by Katie Henry | Review

If you’ve followed my blog for any amount of time, you know I’m a HUGE fan of any YA books that incorporate religion as a theme- not because I’m by any means super religious, but because as a Religious Studies major in college it was my job to study and learn about religion from a sociological and anthropological perspective, and old habits die hard. When I heard about Heretics Anonymous I was especially intrigued as I myself grew up Catholic, so I was curious to see how it would portray the Catholic school experience (though I attended public school, I […]
