To All The Books I Neglected To Review: 2016 Edition [Part 1]

Last December I compiled a post at the end of the month with mini reviews for all of the books I had read but never got around to penning my review for. Most of the time I try not to let the stress of missed reviews get to me, however I always seem to be hit with last minute guilt at the end of the year for those missed reviews. So I decided to turn this into an end of year tradition, and have compiled mini reviews for most* of the books I read but did not review upon finishing […]

2017 Book Buying Resolutions

2017 Book Buying Resolutions

One thing that that’s been undeniably noticeable since I started blogging is how many books I’ve acquired. I’ve been an avid lifelong reader so I’ve always had a lot of books, but I also tended to reread a majority of the time so I wasn’t constantly adding to my shelves. Blogging, however, has made me VERY aware of new books and most bloggers know the struggle of constantly trying to keep up and stay relevant by prioritizing reading and reviewing new releases. Sure, the library is an option but for a coveted new release it can be weeks or months […]

The Boy Most Likely To by Huntley Fitzpatrick | Review

The Boy Most Likely To by Huntley Fitzpatrick | Review

I think everyone goes into reading The Boy Most Likely To with two thoughts in mind: they can’t wait to see more of the Garretts, and they can’t wait to hear more of Tim’s cutting sarcasm. The novel definitely hits the mark on both counts- the Garretts are an ever present entity in Tim’s life as he tries to refocus and reevaluate his life. Huntley Fitzpatrick is so gifted at bringing such a large and vibrant family to life in her stories, and it juxtaposes so well with lost and lonely souls such as Tim, or Samantha from My Life […]

Gilmore Girls Series Re-watch Recap: Season 3

With the Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life revival recently launching, I’ve decided to make it my mission to re-watch all of the seasons before I revisit Stars Hollow in the Netflix special. It’s been about 10 years since I watched the original show (I only made it through seasons 1-5) and I was a huge fan as a teenager, so it’s interesting to see how my perspective on the show has changed now that I’m an adult! You can read my thoughts on Seasons 1 & 2, or continue below to my thoughts on Season 3. *Warning! This […]

Book Buddies Review: Top Ten Clues You’re Clueless

Book Buddies is a fun, collaborative review feature that I participate in once a season with my friend Lauren who runs the blog Bookmarklit. We choose a themed book for the season, read it, and then answer fun questions that pertain to the book’s themes and each feature the book in our own way! Check out the second part of our feature on Lauren’s blog! Check out Lauren’s post here! Instead of a Q&A discussion format, book buddies will now be formatted a little differently each time, with elements that reflect the book we read. In Top Ten Clues You’re […]

The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater | Review

Oh dear oh dear oh deer (no pun intended.) There seems to be something peculiar about my relationship with this series, which is that I absolutely love and am consumed by the odd numbered installments, but the even numbered volumes are a bit harder for me to get through. I’ll admit I held off on reading this book for months because 1) I have to be in the right mood to appreciate Maggie Stiefvater’s paranormalcy and magical realism, and 2) because I was scared it wouldn’t live up to how much I adored Blue Lily, Lily Blue. I finally decided […]

2017 Challenges…Also Known As the Post with the Best Intentions

Reading Challenges are the ultimate failed new year’s resolutions for me. I go in so, so pumped for them and somewhere (usually toward mid to late spring) I end up getting so busy I don’t have time to keep track of them, let alone remember what challenges I signed up for. I’m still reading, sure, but without any real direction and certainly not with any speicifc goal in mind (I’ve turned into a pretty picky mood reader this past year). For 2017, I want to be super picky about the challneges I sign up for, and limit the amount that […]

Recommendations Requested: Quaint, Small Towns

Inspired by Lauren at Bookmark Lit’s latest Book Blog Ideas post, I decided to channel her fabulous Read-Bait feature into a post where I feature a theme in a book that I’m obsessed with, and offer my own recommendations along with collecting recommendations of other readers who might have similar suggestions! As many of you who read my blog probably already know, I am currently in the process of re-watching all of the seasons of Gilmore Girls before I watch the special Netflix revival (no spoilers, please!). I’m currently nearing the end of Season 3, and I’ve been reminded throughout […]

It’s Not Me, It’s You: 2016 DNF’s

Back during my first year of blogging, I decided to do a round up of the books that I ended up not finishing, and while I don’t like to dwell on the negative, it’s interesting to have a record of the books that didn’t work out, especially to see if I ever get around to finishing them later on. Like many bloggers, I do feel guilty when I neglect to finish a book, especially when it’s one I’ve received for review or purchased for my personal collection. At the same time, my life is crazy busy and I just don’t […]

2017 Releases on My Radar

2017 Releases on My Radar

In some ways I can’t believe that 2017 is almost here, and that so many of my highly anticipated reads already have a COVER. Since my birthday is in January and I’m usually already looking toward 2017 reads to put on my wish list, I thought I’d take the opportunity to showcase some of the 2017 reads I’m most excited for that already have covers: January Wayfarer by Alex Bracken | There’s no doubt Passenger was one of the most talked about reads for 2016, and while I had mixed feelings about it (so mixed I never got around to […]
