Next Year In Havana by Chanel Cleeton | Review

I don’t remember where I first heard about Next Year in Havana, but I do remember being struck by the gorgeous cover and feeling a deep compulsion to read it immediately. After a few frustrating weeks waiting for my library hold to come in, I decided to take the plunge and just buy the book, something I’m always a bit wary to do when I’m not familiar with the author. I shouldn’t have worried though, because Next Year in Havana was not only the book I wanted, but it was very much the book I needed as well. Next Year […]

Feed Review OR: Barely Surviving the Quipocalypse

I’m not digging up a quote. I can’t think of one that’s worth it. Yep. That’s how this review is gonna go. Soooo. Wow. Uh. People like this? Like, a lot? Hoo boy. Well get your pitchforks and torches ready, y’all. This is gonna be a bumpy ride. Look friends. I don’t mean to get all elitist. I really don’t. But this was a real slod. To be fair I listened to this via audiobook so perhaps the person reading it is also painted my perception. But honestly man. I keep going through the book again and again in my […]

Monthly TBR Plan: September 2018

I’ve made a lot of reading resolutions, and one of them is to be better about cultivating a monthly TBR. I know so many bloggers do beginning of the month TBR posts and I always LOVE reading them, so I’ve decided to post my own as well! I will include my physical, e-book, and ARC TBRs as well as a status update of where I am prior to starting my upcoming month’s TBR. Reading Progress Prior To This Month: 60/80 Books Read Real Talk: I’m SUPER behind on my TBR/reading in general lately- between work and wedding planning, there hasn’t […]

Catwoman by Sarah J Maas | A Departure from SJM’s Previous Works

I’ll be the first to admit I’m a bit over the superhero trend that’s pretty much taken over all forms of media right now, especially books and movies. I’m just really not a huge fan and what I know about the comic book worlds are bits and pieces I’ve picked up from Max or the small handful of superhero movies I’ve seen. However, when it was announced that Sarah J Maas would be writing the Catwoman novel as a part of the DC Icons series, I was intrigued. I adore Maas (yes, unapologetic-ally, thank you very much) and Catwoman is […]

Pre Order Priorities [5]: Fall 2018 Edition

Pre-Order Priorities is a feature that highlights all of the books that I’ve recently pre-ordered and am anxiously awaiting to arrive at my door! I can’t believe it’s been a whole year since I wrote one of these posts! I guess there is just something about the fall season that makes me want to curl up on the couch and pre order books (especially since it feels “free” since I don’t get charged until they ship lol). I’ve also been more responsible this year with the books that I’m buying and shelf space I’m willing to give up to new […]

Fall Reading Recommendations!

Ah, September. The first month of fall (although not really anymore because of the ongoing destruction of the environment it’s now still upwards of 90 degrees out on the West Coast in September, but that is a conversation for another time). The PSL is back, my closet is stocked with heavy knit cardigans, and I’m anxiously awaiting temperatures to actually drop so I have an excuse to stay in and read. I’ve seen a lot of folks excited about putting together spooky/autumnal TBRs, and wanted to share some of my own recommendations as well! When I think of “fall” books, […]
