Mini Reviews | Hello, Sunshine and Eight Hundred Grapes by Laura Dave

Every so often I get in the mood to binge some adult fiction to break up all of the YA fiction I read. Hello, Sunshine kept popping up this summer around the blogosphere and as a huge Food Network junkie I was really intrigued by the premise. I finished the book pretty quickly and then decided to dive into another book by the author since I needed another Kindle book to accompany me during my time spent on the elliptical at the gym, lol. Do you ever go through phases where you just want to read adult fiction? Hello, Sunshine […]

Event Recap | The Belles Tour with Dhonielle Clayton

If you’ve been keeping up with my blog for the past month or so, you’ve no doubt seeing me flail about my love of The Belles on here and on Instagram, as it’s turned out to be my FAVORITE read of 2018 so far. So I knew that I would be attending Dhonielle’s tour stop in California, and I was DETERMINED to get a good seat…so I did what any other type A blogger would do and showed up 3 hours early to claim my seat and prepare for what was bound to be a fantastic event. The night of […]

Juniper Lemon’s Happiness Index by Julie Israel | Review

I’ll admit, even if it hadn’t been for my blogging bestie Lauren adoring this book, I was immediately drawn to Juniper Lemon’s Happiness Index last year when I first heard about it because I fell in love with the cover. I’m generally not a fan of real people on book covers, but I loved loved loved the juxtaposition of the pink and festive confetti with Juniper’s facial expression- almost like she’s bracing herself for something. This juxtaposition of brightness with anxiety, surprise with resignation, is actually extremely relevant to the themes in the novel, which while functions as a coming […]

January 2018 Month in Review + Exciting Announcement!!!

Is it just me, or did January feel like an EXTREMELY long month? Between work, my birthday, going on vacation, and settling into the new year, I feel like it’s already been 2018 for quite a while! We started out the year with a vacation to Hawaii and some other exciting news… Max and I got engaged during our trip! Granted, it wasn’t really a surprise (when you’ve been with someone for ten years you expect to get engaged at some point) but it was a perfect combination of a birthday trip/engagement-moon (yes, I’m making that a thing). Now we […]

Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo | A Long Overdue Review

I pre-ordered Crooked Kingdom a LONG time ago, but when it came it became lost in my never ending TBR pile, usually being passed over for shorter books because at 500+ pages, it was a book I was frankly scared to commit too. However, after many months of insistence from my bf who read and loved it, and after recently listening to a podcast featuring Leigh Bardugo, I was in the mood to dive back into her fantasy duology. After reading various recaps to job my memory on the happenings in Six of Crows, I cracked open Crooked Kingdom one […]

Monthly TBR Plan: February 2018

I’ve made a lot of reading resolutions, and one of them is to be better about cultivating a monthly TBR. I know so many bloggers do beginning of the month TBR posts and I always LOVE reading them, so I’ve decided to post my own as well! I will include my physical, e-book, and ARC TBRs as well as a status update of where I am prior to starting my upcoming month’s TBR. Reading Progress Prior To This Month: 9/80 Books Read It kills me that I finished January with 9 books read. 9! What an awkward number! I was […]

Blog Tour | By a Charm and a Curse by Jaime Questell

*A HUGE thanks to Entangled Teen for allowing me the opportunity to be on this blog tour and read this unique and magical book in advance! February is off to a great start as my first read, By a Charm and a Curse, was a perfectly charming, quick read that brought to life a vibrant carnival setting amidst the dusty roads and desolate fates of the south. I’m always a little wary of circus/carnival reads because it’s so easy for them to blend together (especially for someone like me, a gal who’s never actually been to a circus), however the […]

Girl in the Pages Turns 4! | Anniversary Celebration & Giveaway!

Guys, I can’t believe my blog anniversary is here AGAIN. I’ve been doing this consistently, almost every day, for FOUR years now! FOUR! My blog has become my home, my passion, my tiny slice of the internet where I can connect with people all over the world who share my love of reading, and I couldn’t be more thankful and proud! This little blog has seen me through some MAJOR life changes, from graduating college to moving back home to getting my first big kid job, to buying my first home to getting promoted to my second big kid job…and […]

The Belles by Dhonielle Clayton | ARC Review

Have you ever gone into a book with little to no expectations and then end up being BLOWN AWAY by how much you adore it? That is what exactly happened to me when I picked up The Belles on one of my last days of my Hawaiian vacation. Feeling burnt out from reading about a book a day, my boyfriend suggested I switch up genres to keep from falling into a reading slump. Having read 3 contemporaries already that week, I decided to pick up my ARC of The Belles that had been waiting for me since last summer’s YALLWest, […]

Blog Tour: American Panda by Gloria Chao | Review

I’m so excited to be participating in the blog tour for American Panda! It’s one of my FAVORITE 2018 reads and gets extra points from me because it’s YA set in college (which I love)! I’m thrilled to share all of the things I loved about this debut with you today! A huge thank you to Simon and Schuster for providing an ARC via NetGalley! Don’t let the adorable cover fool you- American Panda was the first 2018 novel I’ve read, and it’s also one of the most honest, interesting, and evocative books I’ve ever read regarding struggling to find […]
