Roomies by Christina Lauren | Review

Roomies was my first Christina Lauren book, and I have to say that it did not disappoint! I was a little weary going in because I am not really a huge musical theater/Broadway sort of person, but I was excited to read about a mid/late twenties protagonist finding herself (because real talk most people have not grown into themselves completely by that time in their life). I found Roomies to be the perfect blend of New Adult/Adult, and it took a crazy premise- two strangers marrying each other for immigration purposes- and actually made it not only believable, but romantic! […]

Five Things on a Friday

Five Things on a Friday

In an effort to diversify my blog a bit, I’m hoping to include a bit more lifestyle content alongside my bookish posts. I’ve decided to highlight five things I’m currently doing/obsessed with/interested in on select Fridays! 1) Homemade Acai Bowls I’ve always been a fan of acai bowls, but I’ve found myself craving them more and more lately in this summer heat. On some weekend mornings Max and I will run out to get them, but there’s not a lot of places to purchase them where we live and they can be a bit pricey. We decided to try making […]

Thoughts on To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before

Like most book bloggers, I was PUMPED for the release of the Netflix original movie based on Jenny Han’s iconic book series. After a VERY long week, Max and I settled down to watch it with some Chipotle, hoping for the best but with some skepticism (Max because he didn’t know much about it and I think he was expecting it to be boring, me because I’m only halfway through the second book and haven’t finished the series yet). Overall I think we were both pleasantly surprised with the movie, but I wanted to round up my thoughts in one […]

Sadie by Courtney Summers | ARC Review

Sadie by Courtney Summers | ARC Review

I literally just finished Sadie about ten minutes before writing this review, and all I can say is…damn. What did I just read? My mind is reeling from the ending and the unsettling nature of the story and the desperation that pervaded the lives of all of the characters…It’s hard to find a book that not only offers something new in terms of plot but also in terms of format, and Sadie does both. Unafraid to tackle terrible, disturbing circumstances, the narrative is brought to life not only by chapters in Sadie’s point of view, but by a mixed media […]

The Last Summer of the Garrett Girls by Jessica Spotswood | ARC Review

The Last Summer of the Garrett Girls by Jessica Spotswood | ARC Review

The Last Summer of the Garrett Girls is pretty much exactly what it looks like from the cover- a cute, summery coming of age novel in the vein of sisterhood of the traveling pants or a Sarah Dessen novel. Split across 4 narratives for the 4 Garret sisters, each protagonist is dealing with some major life changes as they navigate the last summer that they’re all together before one of them leaves home for college. Though a bit predictable and not especially memorable among the many, many YA novels with similar concepts, I did appreciate the feminist narrative voice that […]

Monthly TBR Plan: August 2018

I’ve made a lot of reading resolutions, and one of them is to be better about cultivating a monthly TBR. I know so many bloggers do beginning of the month TBR posts and I always LOVE reading them, so I’ve decided to post my own as well! I will include my physical, e-book, and ARC TBRs as well as a status update of where I am prior to starting my upcoming month’s TBR. Reading Progress Prior To This Month: 55/80 Books Read Ok, I’m sorry but how is it August? AUGUST?! We are approaching the last quarter of the year […]

Katie Cotugno Mini Reviews | 99 Days and 9 Days & 9 Nights

So I’m getting more and more into audio books this summer thanks to Scribd, and when I saw 99 Days I thought I’d give it (another) shot. I had originally tried a trail of Scribd like two years ago but quickly quit because they had moved to a points system I disliked, and never got a chance to try more than on chapter of 99 Days. I had remembered the book causing quite a bit of controversy based on the content, so I decided it was exactly the type of drama I needed to accompany me through my boring commute. […]

June & July 2018 Month in Review

June & July 2018 Month in Review

Can someone pinch me, because I cannot BELIEVE we are heading into the last “official” month of summer. June and July FLEW by and were a whirlwind blur of travel, work, and wedding planning for the most part, so I decided to just combine my monthly wrap ups for both months! Honestly, I probably spent more time on the road the past two months that at home, so I feel like I didn’t do a TON of exciting things. In between work trips I squeezed in a mini Disneyland trip, wedding dress shopping, and the 4th of July (which lets […]
