January 2024 TBR + TBR Structure for the Year

I always feel invigorated at the start of a new year to refresh my reading plans and how I track my reading habits, and this year I’m excited to revamp the way I structure my TBR. I currently have a lot of sources where I am accessing books (library, KU, Spotify, my own collection, etc) and I want to make sure I am leveraging all of these sources as much as possible. Therefore, I’ve decided to split my TBR each month into 6 sources:

  • Library books (can be e-books or audio)
  • Kindle Unlimited
  • My own physical TBR
  • Audio (want to take advantage of the 15 hours of audiobooks per month feature Spotify just added)
  • ARCs
  • Bonus (this can be from any of the above sources)

Since I average about 50-60 books per year, setting ~6 categories for 6 TBR books each month seems very doable, and then anything outside those 6 is a free-for-all and can be from anywhere. I’m going to hold myself accountable via blog posts and IG infographics, but at the end of the day I’m sure I won’t hit all of these categories perfectly this month, and that’s ok!

January TBR

KU: The Right Move | I’ve heard this is the best book by far in the Windy City series and everyone swoons over Ryan Shay, so I am excited! I really liked Mile High and loved Zanders, so interested to see if I too will become a Ryan Shay girlie, lol.

Library: Enchanted to Meet You | This is one of my top “can’t believe I didn’t get to it in 2023” reads and if I like it (which I hope I will, Meg Cabot and I go waaaaay back, I’m talking I’ve been reading her books since ~2001) there’s a strong chance I’ll buy a physical copy for my shelves. Plus I love all things witchy!

Audio: Mixed Signals | I ranked Lovelight Farms as one of my top reads of 2023, and while I enjoyed its sequel, In the Weeds, it wasn’t a favorite and I felt like I dragged my feet a bit on finishing the e-book. I decided to try audio for the third book in the series to see if that would help me get into it better than the book before, and so far so good! I usually listen to this one when I’m doing chores around the house and so far it’s pretty charming, and has narrators for both protagonists.

Physical TBR: Iron Flame | I started this in December, but I’m a slower physical reader compared to how fast I can read e-books, especially since I usually have to be very intentional about sitting down with a physical book, rather than being able to whip out my kindle or kindle app on my phone just about anywhere. So far it’s good but I swear to God, I forgot how tiny the font can be in physical fantasy novels!

ARC: Bride | When I tell you I SCREAMED when I was emailed about reviewing this title! I loooove Ali Hazelwood’s STEM novels and am super curious to see how I like her paranormal writing. Also, love a good old fashioned vampire/werewolf story! My middle school Twilight obsessed self is ecstatic.

Bonus: Love, Me | My bonus category read this month is another ARC for January!
