November 2017 Month In Review

Books I Read This Month: Honestly I was SHOCKED when I was looking back to see how many books I read in November for this post!! I took the week of Thanksgiving off which I think helped boost my numbers, and I also read a lot of ebooks (4 of the 8 were on my Kindle) which always helps me to read faster! Books I Reviewed This Month: A Cure for the Common Breakup (3.5 Stars) New Uses for Old Boyfriends (2.5 Stars) Put a Ring On It (5 Stars) Once Upon a Wine (4 Stars) The Name of the […]

Calm Down 2018, I See You | End of 2017 Priority TBR

Calm Down 2018, I See You | End of 2017 Priority TBR

Last year I did a post rounding up all of the books I really hoped to read/finish before the year came to a close, and I found it a fun way to keep me on track for my TBR, so I decided to go ahead and do it again this year! Writing the post also coincided quite nicely with this week’s TTT prompt over at The Broke and the Bookish (Top Ten Books on My Winter TBR). I’ve divided up the books I have left to read into three main categories, and while there are 11 books in total, I […]

How I’ve Increased My Reading in 2017

How I’ve Increased My Reading in 2017

It’s almost the end of November and I’ve hit a realization that’s pretty much astounded me: Not only have I surpassed my Goodreads goal, but I am on track to read more books than I EVER had in a calendar year (well, since I’ve been tracking the amount of books I’ve read via Goodreads, which I started doing back in 2011). My most ambitious Goodreads challenge was back in 2015 when I planned to read 70 books, and I barely surpassed it by reading 72. This year my goal was 60 books and as of today I’ve already read 70…and […]

My First Amazon Bookstore Experience

My First Amazon Bookstore Experience

This month the highly anticipated Amazon Bookstore opened up in our local area. Ever since I heard about Amazon opening bookstores in Seattle (I think in a news article a few years ago?) I have been READY to visit one. We’ve been passing buy it for MONTHS, seeing the “Coming Fall 2017!” signs around the construction and just waiting for it to open (Mid November is a little late in the “fall” if you ask me!) Max and I eagerly visited the store the first weekend it was open, and I have to say, I think we were both a […]

Halloween Time at Disneyland | Farewell to Our Annual Passes

This fall Max and I took our annual fall trip to Disneyland to see the Halloween decorations. Traditionally, Halloweentime at Disneyland has been our favorite time to go since the park is decked out in holiday decor but kids are back in school so it’s generally much quieter than Christmastime. Unfortunately, that was NOT the case this year, as it was pretty insanely busy (we did go on a weekend, but still). Disneyland Resort has been doing a LOT to promote Halloweentime at the parks lately and it definitely shows with the increased number of guests, especially with all the […]

October 2017 Month In Review

Books I Read This Month: Ok so I know I’ve been TERRIBLE at monthly recaps the past year or so, but really I’ve been so exhausted with life in general and my life isn’t terribly exciting- I literally spend like 90% of my time working and the rest reading or watching YouTube makeup tutorials so you guys aren’t missing out on much, I swear! Books I Reviewed This Month: There’s Someone Inside Your House (4 Stars) The Wrath and the Dawn (3 Stars) The Becoming of Noah Shaw (5 Stars) From the Notebooks of a Middle School Princess (5 Stars) […]

There’s Someone Inside Your Bookstore | Stephanie Perkins Event Recap!

What a better way to end the first month of fall than talking slasher films with one of the best YA romance writers out there? Nothing, that’s what, and I did just that at the end of September by attending Stephanie Perkin’s There’s Someone Inside Your House tour stop at Kepler’s! I met Stephanie at the first year of YallWest (she was one of my top priority authors to meet!) and I was thrilled to hear she was coming out west a few years later to promote her new book. Though Stephanie’s known for her Anna companion series, don’t let […]

Monthly TBR Plan: October 2017

I’ve made a lot of reading resolutions for 2017, and one of them is to be better about cultivating a monthly TBR. I know so many bloggers do beginning of the month TBR posts and I always LOVE reading them, so I’ve decided to post my own as well! I will include my physical, e-book, and ARC TBRs as well as a status update of where I am prior to starting my upcoming month’s TBR. Reading Progress Prior To This Month: 60/60 Books Read Woohoo, I have successfully completed my Goodreads reading challenge! As of October 1st, the pressure is […]

Currently Trending: Superhero Books

Currently Trending: Superhero Books

Currently Trending is a new feature where I discuss certain trends I’ve noticed in the YA world and offer my completely unsolicited opinion on it. Enjoy! Since I’ve started blogging I’ve seen many a YA trend come and go. Some memorable ones include sick lit, fairy tale retellings, heist stories, etc. It seems like the close of 2017 is bringing about the new trend of Superhero books (both original stories and retellings) in the YA world, which is honestly no surprise given the rising popularity of Marvel and DC movies over the past few years. The Superhero sub-genre is one […]

Pre Order Priorities [4]: Fall 2017 Edition

Pre-Order Priorities is a feature that highlights all of the books that I’ve recently pre-ordered and am anxiously awaiting to arrive at my door! September is finally here and despite the 113 F degree weather, I’m just as anxious for the fall season as any yoga-pants-ugg-wearing-pumpkin-candle-burning basic blogger. Some of the BEST books are coming out over the course of the next few months, and here are some that I’ve already pre-ordered! Release Date: September 26th, 2017 Max and I only received samplers of this at YallWest, so we’re eager to get our hands on a full copy, especially in […]
