Love & Luck by Jenna Evans Welch | ARC Review

*A huge thanks to the publisher and to NetGalley for providing a copy in exchange for an honest review!* When I saw the corresponding cover of Love & Luck that matched Welch’s charming debut novel, Love & Gelato, I knew I wanted to read it. When I found it out was a spin off of Love & Gelato featuring the protagonist’s best friend, I knew I HAD to read it. I devoured Love & Luck quickly in one short weekend, and have officially decided that Jenna Evans Welch would be my ideal YA European tour guide, and I sincerely hope […]

Mini Reviews: Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda & The Book of Broken Hearts

Ugh I can’t believe I waited so long to read this book because it was SO ADORABLE. I mean I actually know WHY I waited so long (I was extremely worried about the astronomical levels of hype this book received) but it was definitely worth the wait. Simon was everything you want in a high school YA: hilariously funny (sometimes at the protagonist’s expense), heartfelt yet cringey family dynamics, social structures that felt realistic, and just the lightest touch of teenage angst. Pair that with Simon’s completely and totally unique narration (I love the way he talks, I don’t even […]

Book Buddies ARC Review: Starry Eyes Gets ALL the Stars

Book Buddies is a fun, collaborative review feature that I participate in once a season with my friend Lauren who runs the blog Bookmarklit. We choose a themed book for the season, read it, and then answer fun questions that pertain to the book’s themes and each feature the book in our own way! Check out the second part of our feature on Lauren’s blog! I cannot even BEGIN to form coherent sentences about how much I LOVED Starry Eyes, the newest novel from Jen Bennett that is bringing swoon back to YA. Set in Northern California (already a huge […]

Blog Tour: American Panda by Gloria Chao | Review

I’m so excited to be participating in the blog tour for American Panda! It’s one of my FAVORITE 2018 reads and gets extra points from me because it’s YA set in college (which I love)! I’m thrilled to share all of the things I loved about this debut with you today! A huge thank you to Simon and Schuster for providing an ARC via NetGalley! Don’t let the adorable cover fool you- American Panda was the first 2018 novel I’ve read, and it’s also one of the most honest, interesting, and evocative books I’ve ever read regarding struggling to find […]

We choose a themed book for the season, read it, and then answer fun questions that pertain to the book’s themes and each feature the book in our own way! Check out the second part of our feature on Lauren’s blog! Check out Lauren’s post here! Mini Review While I enjoy Sarah Ockler’s writing, I once again seem unable to truly find my groove with them. I was enticed by Bittersweet from the gorgeous cover, the […]

Love & Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch | Review

Love & Gelato is one of those books that always caught my eye during my trips to Barnes & Noble because the cover was so pretty in its simplicity. Yet I never pulled the trigger on purchasing it because the cover also made it seem like it might be too young for me (I have a lot of thoughts regarding the large age range YA covers, and don’t usually enjoy books geared toward the younger end of the spectrum). However, I was looking for a book to borrow on my phone via Overdrive (I always like to have a book […]

Alex, Approximately by Jenn Bennett | Review

It took me a while to get into this one, but when I finally did, I fell hard. I was actually feeling super into the romance, which let me tell you, is getting harder and harder for me with high school settings these days (#I’mgettingold). I will admit I pre-ordered this book mainly due to a combination of cover love and succumbing to the hype since EVERYONE seemed to have read it early, but I’ve never seen You’ve Got Mail (I know, I know) so I really didn’t know what to expect, or why people were flailing so hard. However, […]

When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon | ARC Review

A huge shout-out to the lovely Kristin @ SuperSpaceChick for gifting me her extra ARC copy! When Dimple Met Rishi has pretty much been THE book on most bloggers’ radars for the spring of 2017. With the continual push for more diversity in YA literature, coupled with the adorable concept and gorgeous cover, I know it snagged my attention months and months ago. When I was lucky enough to be gifted an ARC by a wonderful fellow blogging friend, I was ecstatic. One of my goals for 2017 is to read more diversely, and upon starting the story I was […]

Suicide Notes from Beautiful Girls by Lynne Weingarten | Review

“The world is only as fair as you make it.” *Please note this review may contain some spoilers, both in and out of spoiler tags. You’ve been warned! Sometimes I’m in a mood where nothing will appease my reading palate but a really good thriller. I’ve been on an ebook reading streak recently, and all of those books have happened to be heavier in their content and story lines. I decided to continue the streak with Suicide Notes from Beautiful Girls as soon as I saw it become available on Overdrive, as the cover has always struck me as being […]

You Won’t Catch Me Extending My Stay Anytime Soon

Hotel Ruby was another coveted addition to my collection thanks to ALA this summer in San Francisco. I had heard some buzz about the book prior to the event, and the cover was absolutely stunning. When I found out that Suzanne Young was going to be signing ARCs of either Hotel Ruby or her “The Program” books, I knew I wanted to opt for Hotel Ruby because it has a total Tower of Terror Vibe to it from the synopsis (I am a huge fan of the Tower of Terror ride at the Disney resorts, and I love the haunting […]
