I’ve made a lot of reading resolutions, and one of them is to be better about cultivating a monthly TBR. I know so many bloggers do beginning of the month TBR posts and I always LOVE reading them, so I’ve decided to post my own as well! I will include my physical, e-book, and ARC TBRs as well as a status update of where I am prior to starting my upcoming month’s TBR.
Reading Progress Prior To This Month: 41/80 Books Read
Can we all marvel at the fact that 2018 IS ALMOST HALFWAY OVER?! WHERE HAS THE YEAR GONE??? Also, I can’t believe it’s less than halfway through the year and I’m almost 50% of the way done with my reading challenge! I’m considering upping it to 100 since I’m averaging anywhere from 7-10 books a month (which is HUGE for me) but we’ll see how June goes- I have a lot of work and travel stuff going on so we’ll see if I’m able to keep up the trend! I also feel like this summer/fall is going to have a SLEW of amazing new releases so hopefully that will keep me engaged (and not feeling like I’m being crushed underneath my TBR).
Owned
Legendary // Ok, I will be 100% honest and say I’m not ENTIRELY sure I will actually get to this one in June because I feel like I legit remember only 10% of what happened in Caraval. I wanted to do a reread but LOL time hasn’t allowed for that. So I’m going to need to see if I can find a really thorough recap. I’m planning on seeing Stephanie on tour nevertheless so I’m excited about this one regardless of whether I get to it ASAP or not!
Keeping the Moon // It wouldn’t be summer without a few Sarah Dessen rereads, and I’m hoping to finish off rereading all the ones I didn’t get to last year. I’m hoping to go in chronological order and Keeping the Moon is the first on my list! I’m also in love with this cover and excited to return to Colby.
Throne of Glass // [Carry over from last month- I’m seriously procrastinating on reading the ending of this one because I remember not liking it much] So after finally reading The Assassin’s Blade in April, I got the TOG bug and decided I need to reread the entire series now in preparation for the last book (and because I never read Tower of Dawn). I’m going to take it super slow and just pick the books up here and there (I actually read half of the first book in April) and slowly enjoy rereading now that I have much more context and background.
For Review
Save the Date // I’m #blessed enough to be on the blog tour for this one and I CANNOT WAIT! I also may have wedding fever since I’m in the middle of planning my own wedding right now so I’m eating up ALL of the wedding reads. I’m also trying to squeeze in seeing Morgan on tour this summer!
Dive Smack // I’m also on the blog tour for this one and I’m super excited because I’ve heard a lot of positive buzz from some of my local fellow bloggers about it. Based on the synopsis it also has a very mystery/thriller vibe which I’m excited for since I have a lot of fluffy contemporaries on deck for this summer, so it will be nice to shake things up.
Marian Sharma Hits the Road // I picked up this one at YALLWEST this year having not heard about it before, but I’m really excited to add some diversity to my TBR with this one. It focuses on Pakastani-American main characters and features a road trip with several teenage girls (what could go wrong, am I right?) that concludes in NOLA (where I’ve always wanted to visit!) The author also mentioned on Goodreads that it’s the first YA roadtrip novel to feature South Asian Americans, which is awesome!
The Last Summer of the Garrett Girls // [Carry over from last month] They synopsis and cover are giving me major Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants throwback vibes (and I’m due for a reread…) so I have high hopes for this one!
Library
People Like Us // I always get this cover confused with the cover for The Cheerleaders, but I guess the ominous articles of clothing against an off-white background with a slightly sinister tone is in this year. This novel is giving me Private vibes, which was admittedly one of my favorite darker series back in the day.
Are any of these on your TBR? What’s your most anticipated book for June? Are you kicking off your summer/poolside reading yet? Let me know in the comments!
Legendary is one I want to get to eventually. Have a great June and happy reading!
I hope you had a chance to get to Legendary, Angela! Unfortunately I have not yet, but there’s still a few months of summer left!
I reread CARAVAL as an audiobook and really enjoyed it!! If you have a way of getting it (or have an Audible account I can lend it to you), I highly recommend that option.
I really liked GARRETT GIRLS and SAVE THE DATE <333
YOU CAN LEND BOOKS THROUGH AUDIBLE?! I have the app because I’ve bought a few books through Audible, but I haven’t actually used the monthly subscription service before (too expensive for my taste, lol)
I have Save the Date on my TBR are too. It was one of the few books I pre-ordered. Hope you enjoy these all. Happy reading!
Did you get a chance to read Save the Date? I loved it, it was so much fun!
I am completely gobsmacked (love that word) that 2018 is HALF over. It’s like someone took time and moved it up to 1.5 speed? Anyway I liked People Like Us, hope you do as well, and Legandary/ Caraval are calling my name this summer!
I know, I can’t believe it either!!! We’re practically halfway through the summer already! Unfortunately I didn’t get to People Like Us before my library hold expired (oops) but it’s still on my radar.
I’m eyeing Save the Date. I still have to pick up Morgan Matson’s Since You’ve Been Gone, but this one looks really appealing too. Hope you enjoy all your June reads!
Save the Date was so good! I had to DNF Since You’ve Been Gone around the 100 page mark (it was just too slow for me) so I’ve been a bit nervous about her other contemporaries since they are also super long, but Save the Date and The Unexpected Everything were both great!
I plan to read a Sarah Dessen book and reread ToG this summer too! I need to continue with the series but I don’t remember anything ahaha.
Same! Although I started TOG like 3 months ago and still haven’t finished (oops) lol. I am at the very end which is not my favorite part which is why I think I’m dragging my feet, but I just need to get through it because I know I love Crown of Midnight!
All of these books look great! I’m also participating in a blog tour for Save the Date and I CAN’T WAIT to read it! I’m out of town right now and I’m pretty sure my copy is waiting at home, and I’m itching to get back so I can start it lol. I also want to read People Like Us, the synopsis sounds so intriguing! Good luck with your reading this month!
Did you end up enjoying Save the Date? It may be my favorite by Matson so far!
