Today is the first day of Bout of Books 13! Today’s challenge is being hosted by Writing My Own Fairytale, and it’s a bookish survey to help the participants get to know each other better and ease everyone into the challenges!
Check out my sign up and progress post here.
1) How do you organize your shelves?
I have a system that’s sort of a blend that works the best for me. I have three main bookshelves and the left is everything that’s paranormal/fantasy/dystopian and within that it’s alphabetized by author. The middle bookshelf has a lot of my childhood favorites, along with my Harry Potter shelf and my Nancy Drew shelf. The right bookshelf has all of my contemporaries and a shelf for my TBR, on which all of the books are turned horizontally so I know they haven’t been read yet.
2) What is one of your favorite books that isn’t in one of your favorite genres?
Since my number one genre is YA, my favorite books outside of YA are probably Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult, Angels & Demons by Dan Brown, and The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood.
3) What is the last 5 star book you read?
Royal Wedding by Meg Cabot! I am a huge fan of her Princess Diaries series so getting to see what the characters are up to as adults was a huge treat for me!
4) What books are you most excited to read during the read-a-thon?
A Court of Thorns and Roses for sure! (I’m 75% done with it and I literally am having heart palpitations at the idea of having to wait a whole year for the sequel!) I’m also excited to read The Summer of Chasing Mermaids by Sarah Ockler.
5) What book do you recommend the most?
What a broad question! The standbys for YA recommendations are Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas, The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin, The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski, and anything by Rainbow Rowell!
Today’s Reading Goals:
(Thanks to Bookmarklit for the idea!)
-Finish ACOTAR
I keep putting off reading the Princess Diaries series. I’ve read a couple but never finished. I have to get started!
I love them! They’re really, really funny and full of pop culture references!
On another note, where did you get your super cool reading challenges widget on your side bar? I’ve been looking for something like that for forever!
It’s a feature of the Ultimate Book Blogger Plug-in made by Ashley at nosegraze.com It’s a plug-in for self-hosted wordpress.org blogs and really handy!
I love every single non-YA book that you mentioned! lol 😀 I hope you had a fun bout of books!
Thank you! Glad to find some fellow readers with similar adult fiction tastes!
