The Will of the Many by James Islington | Hierarchy #1 | Review

Posted August 11, 2025 in Books, Reviews / 0 Comments

It’s been a while since I’ve read a non-“romantasy” fantasy book and I was in desperate need of a palette cleanser. I had seen some buzz around this book on Youtube and I thought the cover art was intriguing (although they are changing it for book 2, UGH) as it was giving “fantasy, but make it Roman Empire.” So I dove into The Will of the Many with only a vague idea of what it was about, and though it took me a bit to orient myself, I ended up being absolutely captivated by this dark academia tale. While I […]

Enchanted to Meet You by Meg Cabot | Witches of West Harbor #1

Posted October 7, 2024 in Books, Reviews / 0 Comments

I have been reading Meg Cabot’s books for over 20 years, and she’s an auto-read author for me at this point. I don’t even bother reading the synopsis most of the time, I just know a new release is going to make it onto my TBR, regardless of the subject matter. Despite the fact that I would have read Enchanted to Meet You no matter what, I was THRILLED to see that Meg was getting in on the witchy rom-com trend. I loooooove witchy stories, movies, aesthetic, etc. and the cover + premise + title (please don’t be in love […]

The Reappearance of Rachel Price by Holly Jackson | Review

Posted August 26, 2024 in Books, Reviews / 0 Comments

I was a huge huge fan of Jackson’s debut novel, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, and overall felt it was a very strong trilogy. I know she’s put a few books out since then, but this is the first I picked up since the original trilogy, and I was excited! I’ve been wanting to start reading more thrillers as the end of summer looms and we transition into fall up here in the Northern Hemisphere, and what better way to kick off my thriller TBR than with a tried and true author? Turns out I was wrong. I honestly […]

Forget Me Not by Julie Soto | ARC Review

Posted June 10, 2024 in Books, Reviews / 0 Comments

In a world over-saturated with illustrated romance covers, this one stopped me in my tracks. I found it stunning, and almost water-color like, completely different from the cartoony covers that are so popular in romance these days (which I love too!) THEN I heard that the author, Julie Soto, cut her teeth writing Dramione fanfiction, including one that’s very high on my TBR (The Auction) and I knew I had to read this one. Set in Sacramento, California (the first time I’ve read a book set in California’s capitol!), Forget Me Not centers on two protagonists who are in the […]

Neon Gods & Electric Idol by Katee Robert | Dark Olympus #1-2

Posted February 26, 2024 in Books, Reviews / 0 Comments

I love a good urban fantasy, though it feels like they are fewer and farther between these days. When I came across Neon Gods by Katee Roberts I was surprised I hadn’t seen it before. I love a good Greek pantheon story, and the twist of most of the seats being elected was super interesting! So thanks to my trusty library, I settled in during vacation to this futuristic vision of Olympus. The series starts off with the story of Hades and Persephone (because of course). Persephone is the daughter of Demeter and has three other sisters (also themed after […]

Happy Place by Emily Henry | Review

Posted October 2, 2023 in Books, Reviews / 0 Comments

This was an interesting one for me. I thought I’d really enjoy it (second chance romance is a sub-genre I’m interested in exploring more) and I remember enjoying The People We Meet On Vacation quite a bit. However, this story was sort of…a downer? Protagonist Harriet arrives at her annual summer trip at her wealthy friend Sabrina’s family’s summer house in Maine (because of course) and immediately has a secret to hide- her fiance, Wyn, broke up with her months ago but she hasn’t told her friends since she doesn’t want to rock the boat and dissolve their mutual friend […]

Romance Mini Reviews | You Had Me At Hola and Things We Hide From the Light

Posted July 10, 2023 in Books, Reviews / 0 Comments

I think my reading experience with You Had Me at Hola is really very much a case of it not being the right book at the right time for me. I really, truly wanted to like it. It was one of my most anticipated reads of 2020 and everything from the synopsis and cover seemed right up my alley. However, when it actually came time to read You Had Me at Hola, I just found myself wishing it wasn’t a romance. I liked Jasmine and loved her “Leading Lady Plan” to focus more on her career and less on needing […]

Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun by Elle Cosimano | Review

Posted June 19, 2023 in Books, Reviews / 0 Comments

The Finlay Donovan series has been my first foray into the cozy mystery game, and while I haven’t read much else in the genre I can’t deny that I have a hilariously good time each time I pick up a new book in the series. Even in this third installment where I don’t feel like much happened to move the actual plot forward from where it landed at the end of book 2, Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun is probably my favorite installment yet! Following the events of book 2, Finlay is tasked by a mob boss who’s currently imprisoned […]

Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus | Review

Posted March 6, 2023 in Books, Reviews / 0 Comments

I ADORE a good historical fiction novel, and Lessons in Chemistry did not disappoint! I honestly didn’t know much about the book other than always seeing it featured on blogs and book lists last year, and seeing even my non bookish friends reading and posting about it. I decided to request it on a whim from my library and was like 128th in the hold line (lol) when I was selected for a “lucky day” copy (basically a copy with a shorter check out date that you can’t renew). I immediately jumped on downloading it to my Kindle and went […]

The Epic Story of Every Living Thing by Deb Caletti | Review

Posted February 20, 2023 in Books, Reviews / 0 Comments

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again- there’s something about Deb Caletti’s books that feel so profound. She takes the teenage/early adult experience and makes it so raw and real and universal, that even a 30-something like me can find it relatable. The Epic Story of Every Living Thing is no exception, as Caletti explores what family and DNA really mean, and how our identities are tangled up in elements that we might not even be aware of. The story follows Harper, who’s always grown up believing her mom used a sperm donor to conceive her, but doesn’t […]
