Top Ten 2016 Releases I Meant to Read But Didn’t Get To

Posted January 10, 2017 by Cristina (Girl in the Pages) in Top Ten Tuesday, Weekly Features/Memes / 28 Comments

This week’s TTT post is all about those coveted 2016 releases that we had every intention of getting to…but for some reason didn’t. This is perfect timing for me, as I am in the process of completely restructuring my Goodreads system and committed to making and sticking to a more regulated TBR schedule in 2017. Below are the ten 2016 releases I most regret not getting to, and I’m aiming to read all of them before 2017 is over!

Did any of the above books end up on your list of 2016 reads you didn’t get to? Would you recommend prioritizing any of these reads over others? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Mariela

Reading Crooked Kingdom now! and I love it!
So many books last year and so little time! Also in my case I was not in the mood of reading a lot, I am getting older and I get too tired that when I sit to read I fall sleep ?

    My TTT.

  2. LADY MIDNIGHT!!! Lol, that was one of my favourites from last year. It was exactly what I wanted the new series to be.

I really wanted to get to Firsts last year as well. I’m definitely reading Stalking Jack the Ripper this year–I’ve made it a priority read.

    • My boyfriend is currently reading Crooked Kingdom, so as soon as he is finished I will be stealing it from him to read! I’ve heard mixed things about Stars Above, but since I own the entire series I feel sort of obligated to read it for a sense of closure…

  3. I 100% insist that you read Crooked Kingdom! It was really incredible, and I loved the way Leigh developed her characters and finished off that series. The Secret of a Heart Note, on the other hand, was an absolute delight and I hope you enjoy it when you read it!

Of the books on your list, I actually also have Stars Above on my list of books to read this year. I pre-ordered it, but never got around to reading it in 2016, which is a shame! Here’s to hoping we both get around to reading it this year.

    • I know, it’s been staring at me from Max’s shelves (he’s still in the middle of reading it! Then I will steal it!) I need to buy stars above so I have the whole Lunar Chronicles series, although I hope that I remember enough from the original series for the short stories to have an impact.

  4. Crooked Kingdom was so very good! I just read the sequel to Truthwitch and really think it’s improved on the first. The Long Game was so very good, but…but…but why can’t it be a series and not a duology? I hope you get a chance to read all of these this year and that you enjoy them!

    • Hahaha those are both pretty big books to be in the middle of! I’m notorious for reading multiple books at the same time myself so I definitely feel you. I’m currently waiting for my bf to finish his copy of CK so I can read it next!
