Harry Potter MOTW [3]: Where would you live as a witch/wizard?

Harry Potter MOTW [3]: Where would you live as a witch/wizard?

Harry Potter Moment of the Week is a weekly meme hosted by Uncorked Thoughts, and is a fantastic way to keep the Harry Potter magic alive year round, even when not reading the books! I’m so excited to be participating! The Theme This Week: If you were a witch/wizard, where would you live? “Hogsmeade looked like a Christmas card; the little thatched cottages and shops were all covered in a layer of crisp snow; there were holly wreaths on the doors and strings of enchanted candles hanging in the trees.“ Hands down, if I had to live in one of […]

Top Ten Places Books Have Made Me Want To Visit

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by the fantastic blog The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic was focused on all the amazing places books have made you, as a reader, desire to visit, whether real or fictional! 1) Hogwarts/Diagon Alley/ Hogsmeade: Being a huge Harry Potter fan, there was no doubt in my mind that this was going to be at the very top of my list. Basically anywhere in the wizarding world would be fine by me to visit. When I was in London this past January I did several Harry Potter walking tours, and […]

Sunday Funday: Week in Review [15]

Sunday Funday is a weekly(ish) post I’ve started to recap the bookish (and sometimes not-so-bookish) happenings in my life the past week! Feel free to participate, just link back! October 6-12, 2014 The past two weeks have been a blur of busy weekends! Last weekend I attended the first wedding I’ve been to since I was a small child, and it was really fun! It was my boyfriend’s cousin getting married, and the cake was amazing (and we all know that’s the important part, amirite?) I mean, it was red velvet, which is my absolute favorite type of cake. And […]

Stacking the Shelves [10]

Stacking the Shelves [10]

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature hosted by  Tynga’s Reviews where bloggers share the books that they’ve added to their shelves this week, whether borrowed, bought, virtual, physical, etc! Borrowed: I had great luck at the library this week! My hold of Rainbow Rowell’s Landline came in, and I stumbled across Don’t Look Back by Jennifer L Armentrout (I’ve always wanted to read something besides her Lux series, which I love). Liv, Forever looked interesting (I like my contemporary with a bit of paranormal, and this one has a ghost) and I just finished The Nightmare Affair, so I […]

Text to Film Thoughts: Gone Girl

Text to Film Thoughts: Gone Girl

Last weekend I saw Gone Girl opening night, as I had been eagerly anticipating the release having read the novel just the week before, so everything was fresh in my mind. I’m glad to say I wasn’t disappointed, and immensely enjoyed the movie despite knowing all of the major plot twists. My boyfriend who had not read the book also enjoyed it from solely a film perspective, which always credits the text-to-film translation if non-readers can watch it and follow along enjoyably. I can safely say that Gone Girl is my favorite book to movie adaptation of 2014.

It’s Not Me, It’s You: 2014 DNF’s

As an avid reader and blogger, I really hate not finishing books. I definitely tend to feel a sense of guilt, and hate returning books unread to the library, knowing that I was holding them hostage from people who actually will read them. Yet I’ve also come into the mentality over my past nine months of blogging that life is just too short, and my TBR list is just too long, to justify reading books that I just really don’t click with. This can be especially daunting when the books are popular ones that you want to read because everyone […]

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins- Review Proving I am Probably the Last Person on the Planet to Read This Book

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins- Review Proving I am Probably the Last Person on the Planet to Read This Book

“How many times can our emotions be tied to someone else’s – be pulled and stretched and twisted – before they snap? Before they can never be mended again?” Anna and the French Kiss was a book that I’ve been hearing about in the YA contemporary genre for years. It sounded fluffy, and the cover was so cute yet so cheesy, that I never felt motivated enough to add it to my pile when book buying. Recently the series received a cover-redesign which is absolutely gorgeous, and this coupled with the rave reviews of Isla and the Happily Ever after […]
