Fall Reading Recommendations!

Ah, September. The first month of fall (although not really anymore because of the ongoing destruction of the environment it’s now still upwards of 90 degrees out on the West Coast in September, but that is a conversation for another time). The PSL is back, my closet is stocked with heavy knit cardigans, and I’m anxiously awaiting temperatures to actually drop so I have an excuse to stay in and read. I’ve seen a lot of folks excited about putting together spooky/autumnal TBRs, and wanted to share some of my own recommendations as well! When I think of “fall” books, […]

Five Things on a Friday

Five Things on a Friday

In an effort to diversify my blog a bit, I’m hoping to include a bit more lifestyle content alongside my bookish posts. I’ve decided to highlight five things I’m currently doing/obsessed with/interested in on select Fridays! 1) Homemade Acai Bowls I’ve always been a fan of acai bowls, but I’ve found myself craving them more and more lately in this summer heat. On some weekend mornings Max and I will run out to get them, but there’s not a lot of places to purchase them where we live and they can be a bit pricey. We decided to try making […]

Monthly TBR Plan: August 2018

I’ve made a lot of reading resolutions, and one of them is to be better about cultivating a monthly TBR. I know so many bloggers do beginning of the month TBR posts and I always LOVE reading them, so I’ve decided to post my own as well! I will include my physical, e-book, and ARC TBRs as well as a status update of where I am prior to starting my upcoming month’s TBR. Reading Progress Prior To This Month: 55/80 Books Read Ok, I’m sorry but how is it August? AUGUST?! We are approaching the last quarter of the year […]

June & July 2018 Month in Review

Can someone pinch me, because I cannot BELIEVE we are heading into the last “official” month of summer. June and July FLEW by and were a whirlwind blur of travel, work, and wedding planning for the most part, so I decided to just combine my monthly wrap ups for both months! Honestly, I probably spent more time on the road the past two months that at home, so I feel like I didn’t do a TON of exciting things. In between work trips I squeezed in a mini Disneyland trip, wedding dress shopping, and the 4th of July (which lets […]

First Half of 2018 Releases I Haven’t Read Yet

First Half of 2018 Releases I Haven’t Read Yet

After reading Lauren’s post on January-June 2018 releases she’s surprised she hasn’t read yet, I knew I had to do my own! I specifically have a “2018 Releases” shelf on Goodreads that I use to keep track of my most anticipated new releases, and I was just scrolling through it to other day to see which ones I’ve missed so far. I’m including below the reads I was most excited for that I haven’t gotten around to yet…ideally they will make it onto some upcoming TBR posts! January-February Releases Reign of the Fallen // Honestly I feel like I don’t […]

Disneyland Summer 2018 | Blogging Besties Unite

If you’ve been around my blog for a while, you’ll know that Max and I make every effort to visit a Disney park at least once per year. Generally we go around Halloweentime (we love the decorations!) but when I heard that Lauren was going to be in SoCal this summer I could not pass up the opportunity to finally meet her in person, and I suggested that her and Chris meet us at the happiest place on earth since they’d never been! What ensued was basically one of the best days EVER. Day 0 Max and I drove down […]

I will include my physical, e-book, and ARC TBRs as well as a status update of where I am prior to starting my upcoming month’s TBR. YA Books Featuring Grandparents

YA Books Featuring Grandparents

It seems like years ago there were hardly any YA books that featured parents, let along grandparents. Remember the good old days of Gossip Girl and paranormal romance where the protagonists just ran wild/amok with supernatural creatures and their parents were none the wiser (if they were given any page time at all)? I feel like in the past 5 years we’ve seen so much more representation of parents and family systems in YA which is fantastic, but I feel like it’s still somewhat rare to find a YA book that prominently features grandparents. As someone who’s grandparents played a […]

Top Ten A Song of Ice and Fire Characters Who Were Cut From the Game of Thrones Show

I’ve got another confession to make. I’m your fool. Nah, just kidding fam. My confession is this: I love A Song of Ice and Fire. Notice how I call it A Song of Ice and Fire. Because that’s what the book series is called. Game of Thrones, in the eyes of myself and many other fans, is a completely different animal. A completely different story with a skin of our favorite story. Don’t mistake me; Game of Thrones has some great moments. But we’re all book people here. The books are always better. The plot, at this point, has almost […]

May 2018 Month in Review

Hello! I am back with a monthly recap for the first time since February and I’m so excited to share with you that I read TEN books in the month of May. I think this must be a personal record for me for most books read in a month, or close to it at least! Personally, this month was super busy and exciting, starting with YALLWEST the first weekend, followed by out of town visitors, my little brother’s college graduation, and ending with the Memorial Day holiday weekend. Perhaps the BEST part of the month was finally trying Salt & […]
