2019 Releases On My Radar: Contemporary/Historical Fiction Releases Part 1 (A TTT Post)

2019 Releases On My Radar: Contemporary/Historical Fiction Releases Part 1 (A TTT Post)

One of my FAVORITE posts to write and read are posts highlighting new upcoming releases! I know I say this EVERY YEAR but this upcoming year looks like it’s going to have some phenomenal new releases- which is amazing and a testament to how large and diverse the YA community is becoming! This December I decided to split up my “most anticipated reads” lists into a few separate posts by genre and also by release date, since there are quite a few highly anticipated titles that do not yet have publication dates, covers, etc. Also, I’m trying to include titles […]

Girl in the Pages Best of 2018 (A TTT Post)

Girl in the Pages Best of 2018 (A TTT Post)

I can’t believe another year has gone by and it’s time for another “best of” roundup! This year I decided to focus on my top ten reads of the year, and most of these books have 5 star or strong 4 star ratings. These books aren’t all 5 stars because I wanted to focus on the books that really stuck with me regardless of how I rated them! You’ll notice that the publications dates are a mix of 2018 releases as well as back list publications. Surprisingly enough, only two of the titles from my “most anticipated reads of 2018” […]

What’s On My Library List [1]

What’s On My Library List is an original feature I started to highlight some of my most anticipated reads I have on hold through my local library that I am eagerly waiting for! Hello Readers! Today I’m launching a fun, quick little feature where I round up the books I have on my library holds list (mainly through Overdrive, perhaps a physical copy or two occasionally) to showcase what books I am really excited to add my to TBR in the near future! With the end of the year approaching, I am definitely prepared for some concentrated reading time around […]

Fall Reading Recommendations!

Fall Reading Recommendations!

Ah, September. The first month of fall (although not really anymore because of the ongoing destruction of the environment it’s now still upwards of 90 degrees out on the West Coast in September, but that is a conversation for another time). The PSL is back, my closet is stocked with heavy knit cardigans, and I’m anxiously awaiting temperatures to actually drop so I have an excuse to stay in and read. I’ve seen a lot of folks excited about putting together spooky/autumnal TBRs, and wanted to share some of my own recommendations as well! When I think of “fall” books, […]

First Half of 2018 Releases I Haven’t Read Yet

First Half of 2018 Releases I Haven’t Read Yet

After reading Lauren’s post on January-June 2018 releases she’s surprised she hasn’t read yet, I knew I had to do my own! I specifically have a “2018 Releases” shelf on Goodreads that I use to keep track of my most anticipated new releases, and I was just scrolling through it to other day to see which ones I’ve missed so far. I’m including below the reads I was most excited for that I haven’t gotten around to yet…ideally they will make it onto some upcoming TBR posts! January-February Releases Reign of the Fallen // Honestly I feel like I don’t […]

YA Books Featuring Grandparents

YA Books Featuring Grandparents

It seems like years ago there were hardly any YA books that featured parents, let along grandparents. Remember the good old days of Gossip Girl and paranormal romance where the protagonists just ran wild/amok with supernatural creatures and their parents were none the wiser (if they were given any page time at all)? I feel like in the past 5 years we’ve seen so much more representation of parents and family systems in YA which is fantastic, but I feel like it’s still somewhat rare to find a YA book that prominently features grandparents. As someone who’s grandparents played a […]

Eight Highly Rated Books I Was Underwhelmed By

Eight Highly Rated Books I Was Underwhelmed By

I recently hopped on the “Low Rated Books I Loved” post bandwagon and had TONS of fun doing it, and was always curious as to how the inverse would work. What books are really hyped on Goodreads that I felt more “meh” about? I followed the same method as last time- I went to my Goodreads “read” shelf, sorted it by average rating (this time from highest to lowest), and chose the first eight books that popped up that received below four star ratings from me (only including books that popped up that I’ve read since I began blogging back […]

Eight Low Rated Books That I Loved

Eight Low Rated Books That I Loved

After seeing Madalyn do this post a while ago (and since then a few other bloggers too!) I knew I wanted to jump in and do it myself! I followed Madalyn’s method: I went to my Goodreads “read” shelf, sorted it by average rating from lowest to highest, and chose the first eight (rather than ten- I wanted to choose relevant titles) books that popped up that received four- or five-star ratings from me. I’m only including books that I’ve read since I started blogging back in 2014. This post was actually a lot of fun to put together, and […]

YA Set In College | A Growing (& Needed) Trend

YA Set In College | A Growing (& Needed) Trend

One thing that ALWAYS thrills me as a reader and blogger is coming across a YA books set in college. There’s just really not enough, and it’s such an important, formative time in the young adult experience. I’ve seen a lot of NA books set in college however they’re usually super romance focused and not as focused on the actual college transition. I decided to round up some of my favorite YA books with college settings and note some of the elements of the college experience they include. American Panda | Just One Day | Frat Girl | Fangirl While […]

Girl in the Pages Best of 2017 | Best Backlist Books Read in 2017

Girl in the Pages Best of 2017 | Best Backlist Books Read in 2017

As we close out 2017, I’m rounding up all of my favorite books and recommending them by category throughout the last week of December! Everything from best releases, debuts, and back list books read will be featured! 2017 was the year that I really decided to read what I wanted to read, when I wanted to read it. I ended up reading more backlist than new releases, and it was an AMAZING feeling to feel like I was reading for me instead of to keep up with the never ending cycle of new releases. I read so many phenomenal backlist […]
