Top 5 Books of 2021 So Far

I honestly can’t believe we’re at the halfway point of 2021…while 2020 felt as though it was the never-ending year, this year is FLYING by. I haven’t read quite as much as I hoped too (although I’m not too behind…as of now I’m only 5 books behind on my Goodreads reading goal) I still wanted to round up my top 5 favorite reads of 2021 so far. It will be interesting to revisit this list at the end of the year and see if my choices have changed!

Devil in Winter | Read January 2021 | I started off the year on a historical romance kick, binge reading the Wallflowers series by Lisa Kleypas (thanks to the recommendations of many lovely folks over on Instagram) and they were not wrong when they said this book was the best installment in the series!

Chain of Iron | Read April 2021 | Each historical fiction Shadowhunter novel gets better and better, and Chain of Iron is no exception. I adored being thoroughly immersed in Edwardian England with the gang, and the angst between James and Cordelia is top notch.

Kingdom of Flesh and Fire | Read April 2021 | Oh this book is EVERYTHING that I wanted in a fantasy/paranormal romance book, and reminded me so much of all of my beloved paranormal romances I read in high school when they were all the rage. Unfortunately the book after this was terrible, but this one still stands as one of my faves.

Firekeeper’s Daughter | Read May 2021 | This book was nearly un-put-downable. It’s a thriller immersed in a Native American community and tackles so many important topics all while having a riveting plot that never feels bogged down by all its elements.

How to Love | Read June 2021 | I adore Katie Cotugno’s raw and real YA novels and this one is my favorite of them all so far! I’m glad I carved out some time to read one of her older backlist titles because it was excellent.

Have you read any of these? What’s your #1 books so far that you’ve read this year? Let me know in the comments!
