One of my favorite aspects of book blogging is making lists, especially of my anticipated upcoming releases! Today I’ve rounded up the top 8 books I’m most excited for that are releasing in the second half of 2021 (you can see my picks for the first half of 2021 here!)
I’m also linking up with Top Ten Tuesday for this week’s post too!
How Moon Fuentez Fell In Love With the Universe (August) | I am always trying to read more books with Latinx protagonists and I’m interested to see how this novel incorporates influencer culture. Also, I LOVE the cover!
The Witch Haven (August) | I feel like witchy books are making a come back and I am HERE for it. Plus, this one is witchy historical fiction (one of my favorite genres) featuring magical school so of course I will be reading it!
Vampires, Hearts, and Other Dead Things (August) | I feel like vampire novels are also making a comeback?!?! This is going to be my fall reliving my teenage best life, I swear. This one is set in New Orleans too (I love a good Southern paranormal setting!) and the cover is stunning!
Bombshell (August) | I haven’t read anything by Sarah MacLean, but I’ve heard great things about her Victorian historical romances, which is a genre I recently fell in love with this year. I love that I can finally start a historical romance series when it’s new and experience the hype with everyone else with this one (since many of the tried and true recommendations were published quite a while ago!)
If the Shoe Fits (August) | I love a good Julie Murphy book and I’m so excited to see she is starting a contemporary fantasy retelling series! It’s sounds like such a fun concept (this one is based on Cinderella) and I’m looking forward to a body-positivity filled read!
Never Saw You Coming (September) | I am always here for YA novels that tackle religion but it’s been a while since I’ve read one. This one focuses on teen characters who have complicated relationships with their faith as they become adults and are trying to reconcile their upbringing with their own beliefs- I find those sorts of themes fascinating and will definitely be picking this one up.
The Jasmine Project (September) | I am a hugeeee fan of YA set in college so I was sold on this one the second I read in the synopsis that the protagonist is about to move in with her boyfriend while starting a nursing program at a community college. Yes! I need more realistic post-high school fiction! There’s also a Bachelorette angle to this one, and I’ll admit my coworkers got me into the Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise several years ago so this one has several things going for it for me!
The Ex Hex (October) | Hooray for witchy adult fiction! I am here for this contemporary witchy second-chance romance that’s actually written by well-known author Rachel Hawkins under a pen name!
Did any of these make your list of anticipated releases for the second half of 2021? Let me know in the comments!
Great list! Never Saw You Coming sounds really interesting.
Thank you! I am always so interested in books that tackle the topic of religion!
Wow, The Witch Haven has a pretty cover!
I’m so excited for that one!
I just added The Witch Haven to my TBR. I added The Ex Hex earlier today.
I hope you enjoy your books when you get the chance to read them.

I still need to read a Julie Murphy book! But this one sounds so cute. And I look forward to your thoughts on Never Saw You Coming! Happy Reading!
Thank you, Dedra! I highly recommend starting with Dumplin’, it’s so cute and the Netflix movie was really good too!
I am seeing so many more witch and vampire books these days and I can’t complain. Hope you enjoy all these!
Thank you so much! I am so glad vampires/witches are coming back into popularity again 🙂
Added a few of these to my TBR! Esp. the witchy ones haha
Yes so glad I could influence you since you’re a main reason for a LOT of the books on my TBR lol 😉
