August 2020 TBR

Posted August 5, 2020 by Cristina (Girl in the Pages) in Features, TBR / 6 Comments

I’ve made a lot of reading resolutions, and one of them is to be better about cultivating a monthly TBR. I know so many bloggers do beginning of the month TBR posts and I always LOVE reading them, so I’ve decided to post my own as well! I will include my physical, e-book, and ARC TBRs as well as a status update of where I am prior to starting my upcoming month’s TBR.

Reading Progress Prior To This Month: 47/100* Books Read

*Wish me luck as I try to read more books in 2020 than ever before!

Can you believe the year is already halfway over??? I’m simultaneously shocked at how fast it’s gone and also feeling like I’ve stopped aging since March and the beginning of quarantine. I think I’ve left my house maybe five times in the past 150+ days *sigh.* You’d think this would lead to me reading more than ever but NOPE I am once again behind on my Goodreads Challenge. I’m hoping to stack my TBR this month with all books I am legit excited to read because I’ve been such a mood reader lately and I’m hoping if I give into those whims it will speed up my reading (which is why I’ve only included 6 official TBR books this month in the hopes that it gives me some wiggle room for others!)

Library

Mexican Gothic // I don’t think there’s much to say about this one that hasn’t already been said. The cover! The premise! The atmosphere! THE COVER! I can’t wait to dive into this one and hope it doesn’t scare me too much because I am typically NOT a horror gal.

You Say It First //I love a good Katie Cotugno novel and this one has a political slant to it (perfect for this year).

I’ll Be the One // This cover makes me so happy! Also, the premise of a girl dreaming of conquering the K-Pop scene while fighting against a fat-phobic society sounds so empowering!

Owned

House of Earth and Blood// I’ve had this on and off my TBR for months because it’s always intimidating to have a huge fantasy novel chilling on your list (I’m also secretly scared that I won’t like it as much as ACOTAR and TOG) but I recently tackled and loved Chain of Gold so I’m more excited about longer fantasy novels right now!

For Review

A Sweet Mess // I’ve really been enjoying romances lately and I’m LOVING the illustrated cover trend. I am also a total fan of books about food so I have high hopes for this one!

Love & Olives // So I loved Love & Gelato and Love & Luck so I’m thrilled another novel in this companion series is coming out (I adore how all of the covers match too!) The publication date actually got pushed back for this one to much later this year but I want to wrap up reading all of the books on my Top Ten 2020 Releases I’m Most Excited For (First Half) post so I’ll be reading it early!

What books are you your TBR for August? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I have a copy of Mexican Gothic that I need to get to as well! Part of me is a little scared to read it because my expectations are so high!
