Monthly TBR: May 2020

Posted May 6, 2020 by Cristina (Girl in the Pages) in Features, TBR / 10 Comments

I’ve made a lot of reading resolutions, and one of them is to be better about cultivating a monthly TBR. I know so many bloggers do beginning of the month TBR posts and I always LOVE reading them, so I’ve decided to post my own as well! I will include my physical, e-book, and ARC TBRs as well as a status update of where I am prior to starting my upcoming month’s TBR.

Reading Progress Prior To This Month: 26/100* Books Read

*Wish me luck as I try to read more books in 2020 than ever before!

I think I’m starting to get my reading groove back! Toward the end of April I decided to take the ~radical~ approach of reading whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted, and it’s made me a MUCH productive reader as of late. I’m excited to carry on the trend into May, and have an exciting mix of review and library books I’m excited to get to (especially romances!)

For Review

The Heir Affair // I adored The Royal We and literally screamed when I saw a sequel was finally coming out. This one won’t be released until July but I can’t wait another second to read it!

Head Over Heels // I (along with many others, I’m sure) am loving this trend of illustrated romance covers! This particular one is focused on gymnastics, a new premise for me but I love watching gymnastics (it’s my favorite Olympic sport to watch) so I have high hopes for this one!

Library

Time of Our Lives // Earlier this year I read my first book by this YA author duo and it was pretty cute! They have some truly stunning covers and I’m excited to try another book out by them.

What I Carry // I don’t know too much about this one, but when the synopsis linked it to Far From the Tree by Robin Benway I was sold (I LOVED that book!)

The Duke I Tempted // I’ve never really read a historical fiction romance but I’ve heard a ton of great things about this one on Twitter, and I’m looking to diversify my TBR a bit. This sounds really fun!

We Unleash the Merciless Storm // I’ve noticed a resurgence of strong dystopian YA stories over the course of the past year or two and I really enjoyed the first book in this series. I’m excited to continue the series with a book from Carmen’s perspective!

The Flatshare // I’ve seen nothing but rave reviews for this novel, and I’ve been enjoying more adult fiction lately so think this is the perfect addition to my TBR!

Get a Life, Chloe Brown // So as you can see there is a theme this month for books with romances and gorgeous covers 😉 This one looks really adorable and I know the sequel is coming out soon so I want to get to this one in time to read the second!

Are any of these books on your TBR for May? Let me know in the comments!

  1. This is such a great TBR! They’re not on my TBR but I cannot wait to read Head Over Heels and The Heir Affair! Looking forward to seeing your thoughts on all of these, especially Time of Our Lives because I’ve been hearing such mixed reviews.

  2. Great TBR list and I’m impressed I’ve actually read 3 of these books. Get a Life Chloe brown is utterly fantastic, good choice. The Flat Share I loved so much, the post it notes all over the flat? I loved it and the voices of the two MCs was so distinctive it was so great with some surprising issues I hadn’t expected to be explored as well. Then The Duke I Tempted! It’s been a little while since I read it but I was really surprised by that one. I bought it so I could buddy read it with a couple of people and no regrets. Scarlett Peckham is a great historical romance writer.

    • The post it notes all over the flat in the Flatshare was so charming, definitely my favorite part of the book! Sadly, I couldn’t end up getting into Chloe Brown 🙁 I’m eager to get into historical romance so glad to hear positive thoughts from you on The Duke I Tempted!
