2020 Releases I’m Most Anticipating! (First Half)

Posted January 7, 2020 by Cristina (Girl in the Pages) in Book Recommendations & Lists, Features, Top Ten Tuesday / 13 Comments

One of my FAVORITE posts to write and read are posts highlighting new upcoming releases! I know I say this EVERY YEAR but this upcoming year looks like it’s going to have some phenomenal new releases- which is amazing and a testament to how large and diverse the book community is becoming! For 2020, there are actually quite a few adult books that are making my list along with YA, which I hope also helps me keep my reading momentum up, as I find switching up genre and target audience for books can help me from getting into a slump.

This post focuses  “first half” releases for 2020, but my list goes through July instead of June because I felt like it 🙂 I’m also linking up with Top Ten Tuesday for today’s post!

The King of Crows // So I’m on target to finish Before the Devil Breaks You in January so it will be fresh in my mind for the conclusion to what has been a fascinating and incredibly written series. It’s one of the best YA historical fiction series (if not THE best) that I’ve read and Libba Bray truly transports readers to the 1920s setting!

Chain of Gold // It’s no surprise that a new Shadowhunters novel makes it on this list, and the cover is gorgeous! I feel though like I need a reread of TID because it’s been a while and this is set during the next generation I believe (although to keep everything straight I probably need a reread of the ENTIRE Shadowhunters universe)!

House of Earth & Blood // Nothing more to say except NEW SJMAAS! I’m also really excited to see her dive more into urban fantasy because I really enjoyed her Catwoman novel which I think will have a somewhat similar vibe.

The Honey-Don’t List // I feel like these home-improvement romance novels are becoming more of a thing in the post-Fixer Upper era. I didn’t love the first one I read (Fix Her Up) but I adore Christina Lauren and I have hopes that I’ll enjoy this one much more.

Girls with Razor Hearts // I feel so privileged to have received a physical ARC of this one after reading and loving Girls with Sharp Sticks. It was truly excellent which is high praise from me for a dystopian novel because I am not the biggest dystopian fan after the 2000s YA dystopian overload. I am confident that this sequel will be just as good as its predecessor!

The Heir Affair // I don’t know how I JUST FOUND OUT about this sequel to The Royal We but I am literally screaming in happiness. I adored the first book and have very fond memories of binge reading it one summer by the pool. I’m low-key obsessed with the British Royals so this is right up my alley.

You Say It First //This book combines some of my favorite things in a YA novel: politics, a college setting, and a gorgeous illustrated cover. I read a few of Katie Cotugno’s books on audio in 2018 and I was really blown away by the rawness of the teenage experience in her writing, so I’m looking forward to more of that in this novel. She really nails the young adult/late teen voice in her characters.

Love & Olives // I adored Love & Gelato and Love & Luck and the coordinating covers for this series gives me life!

Are any of these books on your most anticipated for 2020 list? Let me know in the comments!

  1. The Honey Don’t List almost made my list this go around lol, I’m also looking forward to this one. I gave Twice in a Blue Moon a shot & it wasn’t a hit so I’m kind of hoping to have better luck with this one *fingers crossed* Def looking forward to House of Earth & Blood! Happy reading 🙂

  2. I’m being realistic with myself, I know I can’t start and finish the Libba Bray series in one month ? I’ve been meaning to pick up The Diviners, but she is so thick and I’M INTIMIDATED!!! I love how Katie Cotugno tackles such difficult topics, so I’m looking forward to her new release as well!
