Top 10 Releases on My Radar for 2019 | A Final List!

Posted February 15, 2019 by Cristina (Girl in the Pages) in Book Recommendations & Lists, Features / 3 Comments

Earlier this year I rounded up some of my most anticipated contemporary and historical fiction releases for 2019, and while I am still SO EXCITED for those books, I realized I never did a final top ten list across all genres! I really enjoyed looking back on my 2018 top ten most anticipated releases and seeing how they panned out for me, so I decided better late than never to round up my top ten anticipated releases of 2019, right?

The Everlasting Rose | I screamed about The Belles being my favorite, favorite fantasy novel of 2018 (and definitely in my top 5 fantasy novels ever) so I cannot WAIT to read the sequel this year!

When We Left Cuba | I’ve already screamed about how excited I am about this book and how much I loved its predecessor (see here and here for evidence) so I’m not going to add any more than that! (Also this is historical fiction not contemporary but I’m only doing two posts and the other is for fantasy releases so this stays, don’t @ me)

Serious Moonlight | I don’t even really know what this book is about but after the perfection that was Starry Eyes I will gladly put Jenn Bennett’s newest YA release on this list!

Red, White and Royal Blue | I am a lover of all things royal and combine that with romance + president’s kid and I am all about it (does anyone else remember the DCOM My Date with the President’s Daughter?? No?? Just Me??

With the Fire on High | Uhmmmm can we talk about how BEAUTIFUL this cover is??? Also HOORAY for diverse, half-Latinx main characters and plots focusing on food (one of my faves!) I need this book ASAP!

These Witches Don’t Burn | Literally if anything has the phrase “Salem witches” in it, I WILL READ IT. Also I just realized this has magic and therefore should be under the fantasy post of 2019 releases I am planning, but I got thrown off by the whole real life Salem setting and I also made the graphic already for this post so OH WELL it stays!

Natalie Tan’s Book of Love and Fortune | My heart was captured when I found out this book’s setting is San Francisco, and then I absolutely KNEW I had to read it when I discovered it had to do with food, family, and a little bit of magic. It’s got the vibe of the perfect, feel good read with just a touch of the fantastical to make it unique. Plus, I can’t get over that cover!!!

Ninth House | So I’m bummed that this one doesn’t have a cover yet, but I cannot wait to read a Leigh Bardugo book that’s not fantasy. I’m itching to see what she can do in a new world and I love that this is loosely based on her own time in a secret society at Yale!

The Beautiful | Let’s be real, we all know that I never really left vampires behind (#twilightforever #stillwatchingvampirediaries) so I am THRILLED they are finally making a comeback!! I love a good gothic vamp romance and this one being set in NOLA is perfect!

Chain of Gold | Though I am currently in a love/hate relationship while reading Queen of Air & Darkness, I am 100% going to be purchasing (probably pre-ordering) the first book in The Last Hours series (and hopefully I have time to reread TMI before November to prep for this!) Also, once again, THAT COVER.

Are any of these on your most anticipated list for 2019? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I am so excited for With the Fire on High. The Poet X was such a beautiful read, I have high hopes for Elizabeth Acevedo’s sophomore novel. Also, yes, that cover is gorgeous! I am so looking forward to The Beautiful. I was never into the vampire craze, but I am ready to be sucked in now. Great selection of books. Hope you enjoy all these!
