Monthly TBR Plan: January 2019

Posted January 2, 2019 by Cristina (Girl in the Pages) in Features, TBR / 14 Comments

I’ve made a lot of reading resolutions, and one of them is to be better about cultivating a monthly TBR. I know so many bloggers do beginning of the month TBR posts and I always LOVE reading them, so I’ve decided to post my own as well! I will include my physical, e-book, and ARC TBRs as well as a status update of where I am prior to starting my upcoming month’s TBR.

Reading Progress Prior To This Month: 0/60 Books Read

A fresh new year! I have to say, I’m pretty proud of myself that I managed to post a TBR post for every single month in 2018! Here’s hoping I can keep up the trend in 2019! I’ve decided to set my overall reading goal a bit lower this year because I am sure that my wedding is going to slow things down reading-wise around the middle of the year. I unfortunately have quite a few books from my December TBR that are bleeding into this one (I hit a bit of a reading slump in November/December) but I am excited to start the new year off fresh and FINALLY get through some of these highly anticipated reads!

Owned

Empire of Storms // Honestly, I have been really enjoying my TOG reread and it’s pretty much all I want to do when I pick up a book these days, lol. I remember EOS being sort of a slog the first time I read it and I didn’t rate it super high since it took me a month to finish, but I was also reading it during a super busy time at work which I think may have impacted my feelings because I’m really liking it my second time reading it! I will admit though it’s a slower book to get through than HOF or QOS for me so it’s taking longer than expected.

Queen of Air and Darkness // Can you BELIEVE it’s already time for this one to be released??? I received the beautiful, giant tome in the mail already thanks to pre-ordering and I’m excited to dive in once I read some recaps of Lady Midnight and Lord of Shadows!

Love á la Mode // I am living for the prospect of a cooking based romance (set in France!) This was probably at the top of my Christmas wish list and I’m so glad I received it!

One Day in December // This was a last minute addition to my Christmas list, but I saw that it was a Reese Witherspoon book club pick (love her!) and really enjoyed the last book club pick of hers that I read so I figure I can’t go wrong with this one!

Scribd

The Afterlife of Holly Chase // I was at home most of December so didn’t get a chance to finish this audio book before Christmas since I generally listen to audio books while in the car. I’m hoping to wrap this one up soon!

Library

Josh & Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating // So I read two Christina Lauren novels last year and they were both 5 star reads for me so I’m excited that my library hold for this one came in. However, I am a little wary as I’ve heard Hazel’s characters is a bit much…

For Review

The Au Pair // I’m always on the hunt for a good thriller and was excited to be approved for this one on Netgalley!

Book Club

The Wicker King // I’m super excited to have joined the Dragons & Tea Book Club! I’ve never been a part of a book club before and think that this online one may be a good fit as I can meet more bloggers and participate from where ever! I’ve also seen a lot of great reviews for this title!

Are any of these on your TBR? What’s your most anticipated book for January? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I really need to pick up The Wicker King! I love the cover and it’s been on my TBR for awhile now. Hopefully it’ll be in one of my TBR lists this year. :p

  2. The Au Pair sounds really good! I hope my library gets a copy 😀 I’m also hoping to read One Day in December soon, but wondering if I should save it until next December lol! I hope you love Queen of Air and Darkness!

  3. I love your monthly TBR posts and may start doing my own. I am always so overwhelmed with choosing what books to read, but maybe that would help. Love a La Mode sounds fun and adorable. Happy Reading!

    • I only started doing these posts last year but I actually find them REALLY helpful! I’ll admit I do stray from them sometimes, but it’s nice to have a guideline to follow and lessens the time I spend thinking about which book to pick up next.

  4. Ooh, I really enjoyed Josh & Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating so I hope you do too. Love a la Mode looks like another cute book so I look forward to reading your thoughts on it.

Good luck on your TBR pile, Cristina!

    • Yes I’ll admit I was relieved that the mixed media format makes the story go by fast because this is my first week back to work after the holidays and I was worried about falling behind as well! I’ve heard so many great things about Famous In A Small Town, but I’ve only ever read Emma Mills’ debut and I was sort of “meh” about it. I do love her covers though!
