I’ve made a lot of reading resolutions, and one of them is to be better about cultivating a monthly TBR. I know so many bloggers do beginning of the month TBR posts and I always LOVE reading them, so I’ve decided to post my own as well! I will include my physical, e-book, and ARC TBRs as well as a status update of where I am prior to starting my upcoming month’s TBR.
Reading Progress Prior To This Month: 70/80 Books Read
We have two months left of 2018, people. TWO MONTHS. As Jonathan from Queer Eye would say, CAN YOU BELIEVE? So little time to get through SO MANY BOOKS my head is spinning. I’m hoping to get through my ENTIRE TBR this month (a feat that hasn’t happened in a while) since I’ll be off for the week of Thanksgiving and will be binge reading as much as possible!

Heir of Fire // So that TOG reread I started back in March? Yeeeeaaaaah, I read The Assassin’s Blade and Throne of Glass but procrastinated BIG TIME on Crown of Midnight. I read it in like three sittings in October, the week that KOA was released because I realized just how direly I wanted to dive into my KOA pre-order. I’ll be getting through Heir of Fire this month (which was the major turning point in the series for me, I LOVED it the first time I read it!!)
Windwitch // Another fantasy novel I procrastinated on last year, I’m excited to finally dive in to this sophomore series installment and will be doing a fun giveaway this month as well!
The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein // (Carryover from last month) So this book and I have been on quite the journey. I pre-ordered it from Amazon and it never arrived, and then 5 days later I find out it was delivered to our neighbors house instead (sigh). When I finally get my hands on it, I don’t have enough time to read it before the author’s event in my state, and then I was planning to go anyways and couldn’t because my wedding dress ended up coming in, so I had to go pick it up (which was super exciting, but still I was bummed to miss the event)! I am hoping to FINALLY be able to concentrate on reading this book this month!

City of Ghosts // I was THRILLED to see this title popped up on Scribd and am excited to dive into this quick audio read (it’s only about 5 hours!) Hoping it will be a great commute audio book!

A Very Large Expanse of Sea // This one sort of flew under my radar until just recently, but I’m in the mood for more contemporary reads to close out the year and I haven’t read anything by this author before. Since I was a child when 9/11 happened, it’s seared into my memory but not something that I was able to process completely when it happened. I’m interested to see how a YA novel will handle the topic.

Toil & Trouble // So I am so excited that YA anthologies are becoming more of a thing, and this one is about WITCHES so OF COURSE I had to request it via NetGalley. I’m so excited to read this one and start getting myself into the mood for fall! There are also some awesome YA authors in this anthology’s line up, and some that I haven’t read yet but am really excited to try!
In Dog We Trust // I found out from Lauren that our beloved Black Dog Bay series was getting a new installment so I HAD to request this from NetGalley! I’m so excited to return to the quaint, charming town and see cameos from all of my favorite past characters <3
Empress of All Seasons // I picked this one up courtesy of a very long line at YALLWEST and I’m so intrigued by the concept of all of the different rooms that are based on seasons. Plus, really excited that it’s influenced by diverse folklore with diverse characters!

City of Ghosts is so great!
I’m almost done with the audio book, I’ve enjoyed it quite a bit! I don’t read a lot of middle grade but it’s been fun to dive into this- it’s dark but still has that MG levity to it!
You just reminded me of Thanksgiving and how much READING I can get done during all of that!! Now I’m SO excited. I was just about to start making my END OF YEAR FEAR post– which is where I talk about the books I really really want to read before 2018 is over.
Anyway, the Elizabeth Frankenstein book is good once it gets going– and it’s short, so BONUS!! City of Ghosts is one I might read with my 10 year old because we like to read MG together. Nice TBR!!
YES Thanksgiving break is the perfect time to do some last minute catch up!! I’m almost done with City of Ghosts via audio and I think a ten year old would really enjoy it!
Toil & Trouble was the last book I read in October. I really liked it. There were a few stories I didn’t quite love, but quite a few short stories that blew me away. Hope you enjoy all your reads!

There are just too many books to read before the year ends! I really want to read Toil and Trouble and Vengeful, but we’ll see whether I could actually get to them…
So many!! There’s the backlog of all of the books you haven’t gotten to so far, and then there’s always several great new releases at the end of the year too!
I love how you call your TBR’s a plan! Seems like that might take the pressure of TBR’s are at least to me. It’s the reason I stopped posting them, but I really love the idea of a plan instead of a have to feel.
This has been my first year posting TBRs for each month actually! I don’t always follow them completely but it’s nice to have a plan outlined and I feel so accomplished each time I am able to check one off!
