Monthly TBR Plan: May 2018

Posted May 2, 2018 by Cristina (Girl in the Pages) in Features, TBR / 7 Comments

I’ve made a lot of reading resolutions, and one of them is to be better about cultivating a monthly TBR. I know so many bloggers do beginning of the month TBR posts and I always LOVE reading them, so I’ve decided to post my own as well! I will include my physical, e-book, and ARC TBRs as well as a status update of where I am prior to starting my upcoming month’s TBR.

Reading Progress Prior To This Month: 32/80 Books Read

Keeping my planned TBR light for this upcoming month as I’m headed to YALLWEST the first weekend in May (!!!) and I’m sure I’ll pick up some books that will immediately get bumped to the top of my TBR! Knowing that some of those will be ARCs that need to be read by a certain date, and given that I’m averaging about 8 books a month this year, I’m hoping I can finish my 6 planned books below and still have room for 2-3 books I pick up at the festival.

Owned

A Court of Frost and Starlight // Is any explanation even needed???!!! *Crosses fingers for Feysand baby*

Throne of Glass // So after finally reading The Assassin’s Blade in April, I got the TOG bug and decided I need to reread the entire series now in preparation for the last book (and because I never read Tower of Dawn). I’m going to take it super slow and just pick the books up here and there (I actually read half of the first book in April) and slowly enjoy rereading now that I have much more context and background.

For Review

The Last Summer of the Garrett Girls // They synopsis and cover are giving me major Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants throwback vibes (and I’m due for a reread…) so I have high hopes for this one!

From Twinkle, with Love // I was ecstatic when I got approved for this on NetGalley because who didn’t love When Dimple Met Rishi? And loving these cover models on Menon’s books! However, I’ve heard a LOT of mixed things about Twinkle, so I’m a little nervous to start it…

The Art of French Kissing // (Carry over from last month) This one looks adorable, features food, has macarons on the cover (YUM) and fits right in with my transitioning-to-reading-summery-contemporary-books plan. I’m also hoping to get to this one in April (though it’s release date is in June) since May is going to be a pretty crazy month for me!

Library

A Girl Like That // The cover on this one caught my eye while I was browsing Overdrive and I added it to my holds list. I only have one person ahead of me in the hold queue now so I decided to actually read the synopsis (as one does, at the last minute) and dang does this book look intense. It was even blurbed by Jodi Picoult! It seems like it’s going to be a major mystery, since the synopsis already revealed the death of the main character, so I’m interested to see how the story is crafted!

Are any of these on your TBR? What’s your most anticipated book for April? Let me know in the comments!

  1. ACOFAS is also on my TBR this month (I rarely do a TBR but when the release of an SJM book comes around, you kind of have to, amirite?) and I’m so excited to read it! I just received it in the mail yesterday and it’s so gorgeous. I’m also hoping to read a bit of the Throne of Glass series in preparation for Kingdom of Ash. I never read Empire of Storms or Tower of Dawn (both of which I’ve heard interesting things about) so I’m hoping to make time for all three this weekend and just have a binge-reading weekend! I hope you enjoy these, Cristina!

    • Oh did you end up binge reading Tower of Dawn and Empire of Storms? I am trying to get through TOG but it’s going slower than expected- I’m hoping it will pick up once I hit Crown of Midnight since I REALLY enjoyed COM-QoS!

      • I ended up just finishing EoS tonight and I’m hoping to read ToD tomorrow or possibly on Tuesday! I completely get that. While I really enjoyed ToG, now it kind of pales in comparison with how in love I am with HoF and QoS. It’s going to be so bittersweet when KoA is released… I’m definitely not ready to say goodbye to all these characters (like how I couldn’t bring myself to finish Blood of Olympus, the last Heroes of Olympus (and by extension Percy Jackson) book). Enjoy your reread!

  2. Yay! I’m currently in ACOFAS. I need to finish up the ToG series too. I can’t even remember off the top of my head what I need to read next? I may have done QoS last…

I also plan to read the Garrett Girls and Twinkle at some point in the next month!
