Monthly TBR Plan: October 2017

Posted October 2, 2017 by Cristina (Girl in the Pages) in Features, TBR / 16 Comments

I’ve made a lot of reading resolutions for 2017, and one of them is to be better about cultivating a monthly TBR. I know so many bloggers do beginning of the month TBR posts and I always LOVE reading them, so I’ve decided to post my own as well! I will include my physical, e-book, and ARC TBRs as well as a status update of where I am prior to starting my upcoming month’s TBR.

Reading Progress Prior To This Month: 60/60 Books Read

Woohoo, I have successfully completed my Goodreads reading challenge! As of October 1st, the pressure is OFF (but ironically, I am in the mood to read more than ever). I also haven’t kept up with a monthly TBR plan since March, but I’m hoping to get back into the swing of it for the remainder of the year!

Being October, I’m really in the mood for thrillers or other spooky reads, which is reflected in my TBR. I actually just finished The Name Of the Star by Maureen Johnson on October 1st (it was the book the completed my Goodreads challenge!) and I loved being pulled into that spooky atmosphere! It’s set me up to want to continue the trend with my TBR this month.

My physical TBR this month is full of pre-orders from September that I haven’t cracked open yet. The ARCs are all appropriately creepy or autumn themed (and I’m STILL SCREAMING about getting approved for The Becoming of Noah Shaw on NetGalley, THANK YOU THANK YOU SIMON & SCHUSTER). My library book is actually summer themed, but I am determined to finish off the Black Dog Bay series before the end of the year after Lauren got me hooked on it!

Did any of these make your TBR this month? Do you have any Halloween reads lined up? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I haven’t read Stephanie Perkins, but I’m really curious about There’s Someone Inside Your House. When I saw the title, I immediately thought about that urban legend with the babysitter who calls for help after getting prank called, only to find out the calls are coming from inside the house. Hope you enjoy all the books you pick up this month.

  2. Well done on completing your GR challenge! 60 books is brilliant.

I haven’t really included any thrillers on my TBR because I’ve just been reading them as and when the mood strikes. And right now I’ve diverted from my TBR because the mood is striking hard! I love October so much XD

    • Thank you, Amber! I am honestly the worst mood reader lately, but I think it’s a bit easier for me to build and stick to a TBR this time of year because I KNOW I’ll be in the mood for spookier/thriller books so I can plan a bit better for the types of moods that will strike me!

    • I’ve totally been there too! Honestly I am SHOCKED I’ve reached mine already. I think it’s largely due to the fact that I did a bunch of rereads this year and so I was able to read them quickly and not really stress about writing reviews. However, there are definitely some books on my TBR that I still haven’t gotten to that I’d like to before 2018 despite having already reached my goal!
