I’ve made a lot of reading resolutions for 2017, and one of them is to be better about cultivating a monthly TBR. I know so many bloggers do beginning of the month TBR posts and I always LOVE reading them, so I’ve decided to post my own as well! I will include my physical, e-book, and ARC TBRs as well as a status update of where I am prior to starting my upcoming month’s TBR.
Reading Progress Prior To This Month: 14/60 Books Read
Physical TBR
Caraval | I desperately need to read this one since everyone raves about it!
Windwitch | This has been on deck for a while and I need to get to it while Truthwitch is still fresh in my mind.
ACOTAR | Re-reading in preparation for ACOWAR’s release!
Books For Author Events and Signings
I’ve pre-ordered both of these since I will be lucky enough to attend author signings this month for both authors! I like to try and have the books finished by the time I meet the authors, but it’s not always feasible.
NetGalley/ARCs
Missing | Thanks so much to NetGalley for this e-galley!
When Dimple Met Rishi | The lovely and incredibly generous Kristin passed along her extra review copy to me! I can’t wait to read this!
Library/OverDrive TBR
City of Saints and Thieves | I randomly saw this was available through my local library’s Overdrive and I snatched it up.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone | So if you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’re not surprised to know that I have a hard time with audiobooks. I’m trying to see if listening to rereads will be easier, since my mind tends to wanter (but with a reread I don’t really have to worry if I zone out for a bit and miss something). Max and I have been listening to this together during our commute to work.
Do you make monthly TBR lists or plans? Do you find it to be constricting or does it help you get more reading done? Are any of these on your TBR this month too? Let me know in the comments!
I totally get your audiobook issue! I have yet to ever listen to one and I’m nervous I would miss out. People do always say that you should start with something you already know to get used to it so I’ve been contemplating Harry Potter as well! Also, I’m about 30% through When Dimple Met Rishi and I love it so much<3! It's such an adorable story!
I’m about 25% through and I am loving it as well! I had no idea it takes place in California so that was a really wonderful surprise, as I can identify a lot with the settings. It’s also ADORABLE.
I’m doing OK with HP but it’s still slow going, as I find myself getting distracted still. My boyfriend really likes audiobooks so since we’re listening to HP together it helps keep me focused and engaged because he is. But when I’m on my own I tend to gravitate more toward podcasts, which I only really started listening to recently.
I have Goodbye Days coming up too. I am ready for the tears!! When Dimple Met Rishi is definitely one I want to get when it comes out. I am listening to the HP series and I love the audio. Hope you do too 🙂 Happy reading!!
The audio is actually pretty good! I struggle a lot with audio books in general so it’s big deal that I’m actually sticking with this one! Which book are you on?
I’m just staying book 5!
I totally get your audiobook situation. I listened to my first audiobook last month and it was interesting and I thought the narrators were great but I kept drifting from the actual book and zoning out a lot. I had to keep going back and re-listening because I’d realise I had no clue what just happened…Hope you like caraval though! I read it recently and enjoyed it, I just felt slightly let down because of the hype!
Caraval was AMAZING! I gave it a solid four stars, and am really trying not to convince myself that I need to order the UK version since it’s so pretty….
Audio books are SO hard for me to pay attention to for some reason. I’ve recently started listening to podcasts and they hold my interest way more for some reason!
I sadly have not read Truthwitch yet so Windwitch just puts me farther behind. 🙂 I am kind of excited about missing though since I’ve recently discovered Kelley Armstrong. Good luck with the reading this month!
Kelley Armstrong has such a wide range of work, I’m so glad you’ve recently discovered her! Have you had a chance to read anything by her yet?
I’ve read City of the Lost and just finished up A Darkness Absolute, but those are the only two I’ve read so far. They’re both thrillers I guess more than paranormal although I’ve heard her paranormal stuff is amazing as well. I loved those two books though, so good! I am looking forward to trying more of her stuff. Do you have favorites by her?
I read The Darkest Powers trilogy (YA paranormal) when I was younger and really enjoyed it! I’ve also read THE MASKED TRUTH which was a psychological thriller and it was REALLY good. Honestly her work is so expansive I can hardly keep track of all of her books! But from what I’ve read I’ve really enjoyed her writing!
So many awesome books! I can’t wait to hear what you think about Strange the Dreamer and When Dimple Meet Rishi!
Thank you! I am about 1/4 of the way in to When Dimple Met Rishi and it’s soooooo adorable!
It looks like you have quite the full month ahead of you! I’m also rereading ACOTAR and ACOMAF in preparation for ACOWAR! I’m so excited; May is getting closer and closer!! Good luck with your TBR this month! I’ve also been thinking of doing these kinds of posts just to keep myself on track with my reading goals and what I want to read this year.

I’m hoping that these montly TBR lists will keep me accountable! I’m probably going to be hosting an ACOTAR/ACOMAF reread, so look out for that if you’re interested in joining/chatting with others who will be rereading! I think a lot of people are going to be rereading in anticipation of ACOWAR 🙂
I listened to Sorcerer’s Stone on audio. I like the narrator’s voice, Jim Dial. Since I was driving while listening, I found having a familiar story was less distracting than a new one.
I agree! I like the narrator as well, but I find that I often get impatient with audio books. I’m going to have to try and up the speed of the narration and see if that helps!
Oooh so many great books that you want to read this montH! I read Strange the Dreamer and loved it! I need to read Goodbye Days because I LOVED The Serpent King! And Caraval, because like you said, every other person seems to have read and loved it hahah. I need to read ACOMAF at some point, but I need to read some spoilers on ACOTAR because it has been awhile 😉 And I definitely want to read When Dimple Met Rishi and Missing- but I do want to read a few reviews of Missing, first.
I don’t have a monthly TBR, really. I have a general idea of books I *need* to read (aka, review books) and then some I’d like to get to. But I found that if I try to stick to a strict schedule… I never actually do 😉 Hope you get to read all of these, and that you enjoy them too!
Thank you, Shannon! I generally haven’t made detailed TBR lists in the past, so this is a first for me! I’m hoping that it makes me more productive in my reading, since I find that I spend SO much time between books pondering what to read that I tend to waste time (days even) deciding when I could be reading.
I’m also super excited for Goodbye Days because I’m seeing the author speak soon! I just haven’t found the motivation yet to start because everyone says it’s super sad, and I haven’t been in the mood for an emotionally heavy book yet!
I love making TBR lists, but I so rarely stick to them! I hope to read Windwitch soon and I can’t wait to read When Dimple met Rishi. Happy reading!
Thank you, Kay! We will see if I actually get around to sticking to this TBR….
AH. DIMPLE. AND STRANGE THE DREAMER. AH AH. I always make TBRs but never post them anywhere because I always don’t read so many of them. I’ve found that since I’ve started just writing them down for me, I get more realistic and actually end up reading what I plan to haha. Laini is touring near me too, and I’m definitely going to go even though I haven’t read the DOSAB series. I probably won’t get to STD (that’s a horribly unfortunate acronym btw) until May though because of school.

YES PLEASE GO SEE LAINI! I’m going to do a post soon about seeing her but she is AMAZING- so kind and so well spoken and articulate! I’m also hoping that writing down/posting my TBR schedule will make me more accountable moving forward…although a lot of the titles for April will be overflow for what I didn’t get to in May…
I’m stoked about When Dimple Met Rishi. It looks absolutely adorable. I hope you enjoy Windwitch. I liked the sequel more than the first book. Hope your March is going well.
I’ve heard such polarizing things about Windwitch! I’ve been on a bit of a fantasy kick lately so I hope I’ll enjoy it! I really, really love Susan Dennard and I enjoyed Truthwitch a lot so I’m hoping that transfers over to my Windwitch reading experience.
