All I Want for Christmas is You | 2016 Holiday Book Wishlist

all-i-want-for-christmas-is-you1Now that Thanksgiving has passed, the Christmas season is finally here! (Not that Thanksgiving has ever stopped me, I’m a firm believer that Christmas music season starts promptly on November 1st). My family is big on Christmas lists so we know exactly what to gift each other, and with a winter birthday as well this time of year is when a lot celebrating is crammed into a two week period. Therefore, I have to put some thought into my bookish wish list as it’s the only time of year I am usually gifted books. My #firstworldproblem with this is that oftentimes I have already acquired the books I want by the end of the year, and am already more focused on the year ahead’s releases (raise your hand if you already have some 2017 books pre-ordered…see what I mean?) I’m also supremely picky now about the books that I choose to physically add to my collection seeing as my “shelf of shame” (what Max has deemed my overflowing shelf of unread books) is pretty full.

So this year I took care to choose a few books for my wish list that were either new releases I either didn’t get around to purchasing in 2016, or backlist books that I still would like to add to my collection from authors who I just discovered this year. Most of the books (with the exception of Stalking Jack the Ripper and ADSOM) are either continuations of series that I already own, or are by authors who’s other books I own and love:

Do you struggle with what books to add to your wishlist for Christmas? Have you usually acquired all of your highly anticipated reads by the end of the year? Are you super picky with the physical books you buy and add to your shelves? And, most importantly, do you have book recommendations that you absolutely recommend I add to my list? Let me know in the comments!

  1. YAS ALL THE TJR! I loved After I Do (and the two others I’ve read by her). Forever Interrupted is still on my TBR because I’m savoring it 😉

I also loved The Long Game! What a fantastic ender to the duo… but I’m still hoping she’ll add more books D:

  2. TJR is the best. I still have to read Forever Interrupted though. I am waiting for Stars Above from the library. I don’ want to leave that world yet!!! Some of the books on my holiday wishlist are Gemina and Holding Up the Universe. Hope you get these!!

  3. I actually only buy maybe 10 books a year from my favorite authors because I save them all for my Christmas and my birthday lists! It saves me some money. 😉 I also work at two libraries so I borrow a lot of books!

    • That’s a good idea! I think I’m too impatient to wait though! I’ve been using my library a lot via Overdrive, but if it’s a book I’m really excited to read I usually am more tempted to purchase it so I can have my own copy.

  4. Yay for a Christmas book wishlist! I definitely hope you get your hands on the TJR books, because I love Taylor Jenkins Reid and all her books are fabulous. Also, Dark Triumph is one of my favorite sequels ever, so yay for that being on there! Same goes for Their Fractured Light 🙂

I don’t have a bookshelf anymore. I still keep some old favorites, Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Gone with the Wind . . . I buy them (cheap) read them, give them away, and on the rare occasion they offend me, I throw them into the recycle bin.
