Top Ten Books on My Spring TBR

Posted March 14, 2016 by Cristina (Girl in the Pages) in Top Ten Tuesday, Weekly Features/Memes / 24 Comments

TTTcustombannerTop Ten Tuesday is a fun weekly feature hosted by the fantastic blog The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic focuses on one’s Spring TBR, however I recently talked about all of the new releases I’m anticipating through June. This week I’m going to focus on the books I aim to read this spring aside from all of the highly hyped, shiny new releases I have my eye on.

Queen of Shadows by Sarah J Maas

queenofshadowsI literally just started this book right after finishing HOF because I need more Aelin and Rowan in my life.

The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J Maas

Assassin's BladeI KNOW HOW HAVE I NOT READ THIS YET?!  *Is secretly scared that it won’t be very good since I didn’t like the first TOG book very much and this is the prequel novella bind up*

The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord

start of me and youMy first Emery Lord read, ironically, is an ARC of When We Collided. I recently found out I’ll have the opportunity to hear her speak in April so I want to try to read more by her before then!

The Wrath and the Dawn by Rene Ahdieh

The Wrath and the DawnI have the paperback of this pre-ordered, and I’m so excited to read this Eastern folklore influenced tale!

Only Ever Yours by Louise O’Neill

only ever yoursThis book sounds like it runs in a similar vein to one of my all time favorite novels, The Handmaid’s Tale.

Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins

islaThis has been sitting on my shelf for a while now, and spring is the perfect time to read a Stephanie Perkins romance.

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

mebeforeyouLike everyone else in the world who hasn’t read this one yet, I need to get to it before the movie is released!

Firsts by Laurie Elizabeth Flynn

firstsThere’s been so much buzz around this title, and I KNOW I’m going to have a lot to say about it. I can’t wait to see how the topic is handled!

Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard

something strange and deadlyI have yet to read anything by Susan however I met her and she is perhaps one of my favorite author human beings EVER, so I want to start with her steampunk themed trilogy before making my way to Truthwitch.

Forever, Interrupted by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Forever, InterruptedI’ve been wanting to try something by Reid forever after seeing rave reviews from my fellow YA bloggers who like to mix it up with some adult fiction.

We’ll see how well this TBR goes, I suppose, considering I have 4 books pre-ordered for this spring and sooo many new releases I am aching to get my hands on. While I know that I probably won’t get to all of these, it’s a general overview of the reading I’d like to get done over the next few months!

  1. Lol, in regards to Susan Dennard, I have authors I’ve met at signings or follow on Instagram or Twitter that I haven’t read but love anyway. I’m glad I’m not the only one!

I’m intrigued with Only Ever Yours and Firsts!

    • Right? It’s sort of scary when you meet an author you haven’t read before and love them so much, because then there seems to be more pressure to like their books when you DO get around to reading them (hence why Truthwitch is still sitting on my shelf unread…)

  2. Haha that’s so true about Me Before You, I’m in the same boat! Recently I watched the movie trailer for it and I was immediately like “I have to read this book NOW!” It hasn’t happened yet, but hopefully I’ll get around to it soon! Great list! 🙂

    • YES same here! I’m a little scared to start with what I think is the most “hyped” of Moyes’ books, but I know I’m going to end up seeing the movie so I need to get around to reading it sooner rather than later!

  3. Most of the books in your list are also have been on my radar for quite a while, but I also haven’t read them XD I might be reading Me Before You too before the movie comes out 😀

I hope you love Queen of Shadows – and The Assassin’s Blade for that matter – as much as I did! ♥♥ Have the tissues ready for the last story in Assassin’s Blade *sniff* Oh and I hope you love The Wrath & The Dawn too – that was stunning! I still need to read Something Strange and Deadly too^^ Hopefully I’ll get my hands on it soon 🙂 Awesome list!!

  5. Great picks this week, I am looking forward to reading a lot of these myself. Ooooh no, I love The Assassin’s Blade, I enjoyed it more than Throne of Glass! I need to hurry up and read Me Before You, that looks like a book that is going to make me cry a lot. I hope you enjoy them all when you get to them 🙂

Here’s my TTT post, although I ended up doing last weeks post as I missed it last week.

    • I am so glad to hear that The Assassin’s Blade is better than Throne of Glass, because I just finished QOS and I feel like there’s so much I’m missing from not having Aelin’s backstory that I would really benefit from. At least I know I have something to read between now and waiting for Empire of Storms to come out!

  6. Yes, yes, yes, read all the Taylor Jenkins Reid and Sarah J. Maas and Emery Lord! I loved seeing those titles on your list, and I’m definitely hoping you love them all as much as I did when I read them. I also really liked Me Before You, and plan to reread that one this year! Happy reading! 🙂
