I’m Moving! Important Info!

Posted April 20, 2015 by Cristina (Girl in the Pages) in Uncategorized / 15 Comments

Hello lovely followers!

I’m coming to you today with a bit of a major announcement regarding the future of my blog, Girl in the Pages (girlinthepages.com).

I’m going to be moving from wordpress.com to a self-hosted wordpress.org site.

My URL (girlinthepages.com) will stay the same!

Why?

I’ve loved my time at wordpress.com for the past 15 months book blogging and it’s helped me really grow my audience and content. It was a fantastic place to start my blog. At this time I feel like I’m ready to move to wordpress.org where I have more control over customizing my blog, using plug-ins, etc. It was a bit of a nerve-wracking decision but I’m so excited for the next chapter in my blogging experience!

When?

The migration will take place tomorrow, April 21, 2015. My URL will still stay the same! The redirection should be seamless. I will then be migrating over all of my followers so that my posts will still appear in your wordpress.com reader, and I will still see yours in the reader as well! If you follow me via email, you will still get email updates every time I post. I will still be just as present in the community, just blogging from a different platform. ๐Ÿ™‚

How will this impact you?

It shouldn’t impact your following of girlinthepages.com as all! It should be a seamless transition! Once I migrate my posts should continue to appear in your reader! I will be redirecting this site to my new one as well, so readers will be automatically redirected to my new site. If you’d like to you can follow me on Bloglovin’ as well, as my Bloglovin’ profile should redirect seamlessly too. I’ll still continue following all of the same blogs as well! I’ll also be hosting a giveaway soon after my move to celebrate, so be sure you’re following to enter! You can also enter my current giveawy for an ARC of Emmy & Oliver here).

I can’t wait to engage with you all from my new blogging platform and bring you even better content! I hope you’ll continue to visit me at my new site ๐Ÿ™‚ Please let me know if you have any questions!

  1. Congrats! I looked into self hosting a while ago and decided I couldn’t afford it, but I might consider it in the future. All the customizability looks so much fun. I still want to change my blog url to a paid one, but I keep avoiding it because of the hassle of updating all the links and the worry of something going wrong. Another thing on my’ to do’ list after graduating, hehe!

  2. Hey! Awesome ๐Ÿ™‚
    Congrats for that move.
These transitions no matter how seamless they might appear to people, always are important. Because that’s what life is all about. To explore options and then decide on accessing the ones that help us on improving.
Excited to see where you take your blog next!
    I know you’ll do great! ๐Ÿ™‚
    Have Fun! ๐Ÿ™‚
