Stacking the Shelves [13]

Posted December 20, 2014 by Cristina (Girl in the Pages) in Stacking the Shelves, Weekly Features/Memes / 12 Comments

STSnewStacking the Shelves is a weekly feature hosted by  Tynga’s Reviews where bloggers share the books that they’ve added to their shelves this week, whether borrowed, bought, virtual, physical, etc!

FullSizeRenderThis is actually what I’ve accumulated over the past few weeks! I scooped up Dorothy Must Die and The One at Target on Black Friday (hardcover, both for under $10!) and was gifted The Book Thief by my aunt. I haven’t read any of these yet so I’m really excited to get around to them (probably not until after the holidays though!)

FullSizeRenderI was also gifted my aunt’s collection of Jane Austen novels (included was Sense and Sensibility as well, but it’s currently on my nightstand). I’ve yet to read anything by Austen (I KNOW, how did I graduate as an English major? I chose to focus my British literature courses on the earlier stuff such as Anglo-Saxon epics, King Arthur, Paradise Lost, etc). So if you have any recommendations as to what would be the best novel to start with to get into Jane Austen’s work, I’d love to know!

gildedashesI’m still not as used to e-books as I am physical copies, but I downloaded the novella Gilded Ashes by Rosamund Hodge because I loved Cruel Beauty, and this is set in the same universe! I’m so excited to read this and hope it will tide me over until Crimson Bound is released!

Did you add anything new to your shelves this week?

  1. OMG you need to start on Jane Austen. Sense and Sensibility would be the best start I think. Pride & Prejudice can either make or break the deal so I wouldn’t start there 🙂

    Happy reading!
