Today I’m excited to announce my first challenge I will be taking part in for 2015! It’s the Fairytale Retelling Reading Challenge hosted by the lovely Mel over at The Daily Prophecy. I’m really excited to be participating seeing as fairytale retellings seem to be a trend in YA that’s not ceasing to grow anytime soon, and there are a lot of them on my TBR for the upcoming year!
According to Mel, here are the guidelines for the challenge:
- The challenge runs from January 1st – December 31st 2015.
- The goal is to read fairytale retellings, but if you want you can also pick other retellings. It’s up to you what you count as a fairytale. Here are a couple of books you can pick from: my bookshelf with fairytale retellings and Fairytale lists on Listopia. You can read Middle Grade, Young Adult and Adult books for this challenge. Obviously, the book doesn’t have to be published in 2015.
- There are 6 different levels you can aim for:
-Prince Charming: 1 – 4 books.
-Magic mirror: 5 – 9 books.
-Big bad wolf: 10 – 15 books.
-The wise princess: 16 – 20 books.
-Wicked fairy Godmother: 21 – 25 books.
-Bluebeard: you are killing it! 26+ books. - Every beginning of the month I will make a link-up post where you put all your reviews in and they will have fun/informative introductions.
- It’s not a promise, but there might be challenges.
- Most important thing: HAVE FUN and spread the word 🙂
I’ll be aiming for the Magic Mirror or Big Bad Wolf level (5-15 book range, but I’ll also be counting novellas) so look out for my reviews! Here are some of the books I especially hope to read in 2015 for this challenge:
Fairest by Marissa Meyer
Winter by Marissa Meyer
Damsel Distressed by Kelsey Macke
Crimson Bound by Rosamund Hodge
Gilded Ashes by Rosamund Hodge
A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas
I can’t wait to get started on these titles! Are you planning on reading any fairytale retellings in 2015?
Great, I’m so happy more and more people are joining! It’s going to be fun 😀 I also want to read Fairest, Winter, Crimson bound & A court of thorns and roses.
Thank YOU for hosting! I’m so excited to have a network of like-minded readers who love fairytale retellings as much as I do!!
Oooo, this sounds good. I might have to join in too. I do love a good fairytale. X
I’m so excited to do this challenge. There’s also soooo many fairytale retellings coming out this next year so it should be a fairly easy challenge to stay on top of!
I just got an ARC of A Court of Thorns and Roses. I’ve never read this author before, is she any good?
I’ve read the first in her Throne of Glass series and really liked her main character. Lucky you for getting the ARC! Did you get it via NetGalley?
No through Bloomsbury publishing… 🙂
I just nominated you for the “sisterhood of the world blogger award” congratulations! I will put the post up on my blog in a few minutes so you can go there to get the questions!
Thank you so much! I’ve already been nominated for this award so I’m not sure if I’ll be participating again, but I really appreciate the nomination and the acknowledgement, and congratulations on your own nomination as well!
Thank you!
Fairest and Winter are definitely on my list (;
I’m going to do this Challenge as well, just need to get my post up 🙂
Yay! Can’t wait to have more people join up so we can chat about the retellings we read!
This sounds like lots of fun! I’d give it a go if I didn’t already have such a huge tbr pile (with only 1 or 2 fairytale retellings on). 🙂
It’s hard to navigate such a large TBR, but I’m hoping by doing a few challenges it will give me a more structured approach to my TBR!
Definitely, ever time I get it down I end up going on a book spree as if to compensate. 😛
I am going to do this challenge too – I love re-tellings and there are some amazing ones coming out in 2015!
New follower 🙂
