Life in Fiction: Three Authors I’d Want to Write Me a Romance

lifeinfictionLife in Fiction is a feature here at Girl in the Pages where I talk about which authors’ writing I absolutely adore and I’d therefore choose to write the stories of my life adventures. I’ll spotlight three authors for each post/topic who is brilliant at writing in these the given genre and theme.  Feel free to participate, just link back!

Top Three Authors I’d Want to Write Me a Romance

jlaJennifer L Armentrout is the Queen of writing swoon-worthy romances. I don’t think I’ve ever been hit as hard with fictional chemistry as that portrayed in her Lux series by Daemon and Katy. Not only does she manage to write completely irresistible male leads (with gorgeous eyes), but she manages to write female protagonists who can hold their own in a love story and retain their own personalities and convictions, who don’t lack a backbone in the face of a hot guy. Whether paranormal or human, JLA writes the most fantastic romantic interests and would do any relationship justice with her sass and skill.

Favorite Romances: Katy & Daemon (Lux Series), Sam & Carson (Don’t Look Back)

cassandraclareCassandra Clare is another author who writes fantastic romances, and whom I believe writes some of the best diverse romances. Whether it be romances between guy and girl, guy and guy, warlock and vampire, human and supernatural…she can (and does) write it all. She can write sweeping, heart-wrenchingly romantic historical pairings or realistic, tension-filled modern couples, and no matter the setting, family history, or heritage she can make anything work. Clare would definitely be my pick to write me into a paranormal romance.

Favorite Romances: Jace & Clary (The Mortal Instruments), Will & Tessa/Tessa & Jem (The Infernal Devices)

JenniferESmithFrom the moment I read The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, I knew Jennifer E. Smith was going to become one of my favorite authors who could craft a romance. Her romances feel so authentic, and so profound in their simplicity (something about TSPLFS really tugged at my emotions…it was like I was Hadley, living intimately inside her life for twenty-four hours). Smith is the perfect writer to portray what real, honest young love can (and often) feels like, and she seems like the perfect fit to be able to narrate the ups and downs of any relationship.

Favorite Romances: Hadley & Oliver (The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight), Graham & Ellie (This Is What Happy Looks Like).

Do any of these authors write your favorite romances or OTPs? Are these the ones you’d choose to portray the love story of your life? Let me know in the comments! And if you haven’t check out their novels, they’re fantastic reads!

  1. Great feature! Of the three authors you mentioned I have only read Cassandra Clare and I agree that she writes exceptional romances. I adore Will/Tessa and Jace/Clarry. Never cared much for the Jem/Tessa pairing but I love and respect how they challenge the boundaries of the conventional love story.

    • I love how Cassandra Clare can create chemistry between so many different types of pairings, not just the normal guy/girl. I really like Magnus/Alec as well! (Although I love Magnus period so I’d probably ship him with anyone haha)

      • yeah same here. I think I would ship Magnus with anyone also… I’m not a huge Alec fan. I love Izzy and Simon and I’m really looking forward to more Aline Penhallow in the new books. Also curious to see what she does with all the Blackthornes (Mark in particular)

  2. I like this feature a lot! I loved The Statistical Probability of Love At First Sight and agree, Jennifer E. Smith can write me a romance anytime. 🙂 I definitely need to read Jennifer L. Armentrout and Cassandra Clare.
