Top Ten New(ish) Series I Want To Start

Posted October 21, 2014 by Cristina (Girl in the Pages) in Top Ten Tuesday, Weekly Features/Memes / 30 Comments

toptenseriesTop Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by the fantastic blog The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic was “Top Ten New Series You Want to Start.” I’ve tried to keep most of the series I chose with publication dates of 2012 or sooner. All the books listed are the first in a series, and the title links go to the corresponding Goodreads pages!

1) Of Poseidon by Anna Banks I need to see what all the hype is around the mermaid craze!

2) Wicked by Jennifer L Armentrout- I love JLA and can’t wait to read a book set in New Orleans!

3) Pivot Point by Kasie West- I’ve heard nothing but good things about this series! I own a copy, I just need to find the time to read it!

4) The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski- Another book I’ve heard many positive things about, plus the cover is gorgeous!

5) Splintered by A. G. Howard- I actually haven’t read a YA Alice retelling yet, so this seems a good place to start!

6) Lailah by Nikki Kelly- I here this is a fresh take on vampires with a good love triangle.

7) Wait for You by J Lynn- This is actually by JLA as well, and I have confidence that she’s a great author to start with when trying out the NA genre!

8) Losing It– Cora Carmack- Another book high on my TBR for the NA genre.

9) Flat Out Love by Jessica Park- Not a book I’ve seen too often on blogs, but when I have it’s received great feedback as a contemporary with a lot of substance that deals with family dynamics.

10) A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray- Probably one of the most hyped book releases this fall, it looks intriguing and like it will have a lot of world building.

Did any of these series make you list this week? Any you’d encourage/discourage me to start? Let me know in the comments, and link back to your TTT!

  1. I haven’t read any of these. Lailah sounded really good to me too, but I’ve read several negative reviews and now I just don’t know. A Thousand Pieces of You is on my list too! (My to read list)

    • Hmm that’s interesting! So far I’ve seen only good reviews, but I find reviews can be really polarized on paranormal books depending on how readers feel about certain mythological characters, how supernatural elements are handled, etc. It’s just one of those books I want to read myself and decide how I like it!

  2. A Thousand Pieces of You is on my list too! XD Of Poseidon is really good, although, the second and third books called to me more than the first one. Maybe not worth ALL the hype, but it’s a good read 🙂

  3. Wait…I thought I was the only blogger left that hasn’t read Splintered yet! YAY, I’m not alone! haha I really want to read it though, I’ve heard nothing but awesome things 😀 I also still need to read The Winner’s Curse and A Thousand Pieces of You! Great picks ^^ I hope you get to read ALL of these soon 🙂

  4. Great picks. There are quite a few of this series that I really want to read myself – Wicked, A Thousand Pieces of You and Flat-Out Love especially, they look so good. I loved The Winner’s Curse, I am so excite to get my hands on the sequel. I hope you can get to some of these soon 🙂 TTT.

    • I’ve heard great things about the winner’s curse, and I think a lot of these series have really creative premises! It feels like the options and authors in YA are growing, which is really exciting!

  5. SPLINTERED! Aaah, I really need to get started on this one! but the cover is just *gorgeous* <3
Also, A Thousand Pieces of You is one book which I've seen rule the pages of the blogosphere. Almost everyone seems to be reading it. Love your list ^-^
