This past week I was nominated for the Liebster Award from two awesome blogs: Gwen & Kate’s Library and SmallTownCityGirls! I’m really flattered to have been recognized, though I already received my first Liebster Award nomination in April (you can see my original post here). Though I have already been nominated, I thought that it would be fun to answer the questions these two lovely blogs have for me as part of the nomination!

Questions from Gwen & Kate’s Library:

1.) How do you organize your bookshelves — alphabetical by author last name, rainbow order by spine color, by book genre, etc.?

I organize mine by book genre (paranormal/fantasy or contemporary), and within genre by author last name!

2.) How do you get books — do you automatically purchase, check out from a library, borrow from a friend, etc.?

I usually either purchase my books or check them out from my local library. It really depends on how much I like the author, if I’m completing a series, etc. There are some authors I would auto-buy from, but often times if I’m trying out a new author or type of genre I’ll opt for the library.

3.) Favorite book format — hardcover, paperback, ebook, audiobook, etc.?

Paperback!

4.) How do you choose what books to read next?

Usually depending on my mood, but also by obligation, such as an ARC I need to get reviewed or what’s due back to the library soon. I try to rotate genres so that I don’t get burned out, so I might read a contemporary and then switch it up by reading a paranormal or fantasy book next.

5.) What do you look for in other blogs — what do you like and what don’t you like (review style, layout, graphic design, post types, etc.)?

I actually like blogs with longer-winded posts, because I appreciate when bloggers are really passionate about their reviews and recommendations. I also like blogs that have a variety of post types and interact with other bloggers!

6.) What is your biggest book pet peeve or turn-off?

When books change cover designs in the middle of a series!

7.) What is your favorite book cover or book cover trend?

I like when different books in a series all have a specific color theme- such as in the Selection series, each dress is a different color, or in Stephanie Perkin’s series, each cover is similar in font and style with a different thematic ombré color for the background.

8.) Do you eat while reading? If so, what is your favorite?

I am notorious for reading while eating meals because I see it as valuable reading time. I however do not do so with borrowed books or really nice books. My favorite reading snack is probably Trader Joe’s Olive Oil Popcorn.

9.) Top three books you want to see as a movie (that haven’t been made yet)?

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer trilogy (though I feel like it could almost be a really great TV show instead). Mind you, I’d only want them to become films if they were done well!

10.) Do you re-read books?

Ones that I enjoyed, definitely! Especially series!

11.) Story behind your blog name?

I wanted to do something that was indicative of my love for reading and writing without using the typical words (such as books, bibliophile, etc). I thought about all the time I’ve spent poring over pages in my life due to school and reading, and Girl in the Pages was born!

Questions from SmallTownCityGirls:

1. When did you first realize that you loved reading?

So young I can’t even remember. My mom would by these little inflatable books with pictures for infants and toddlers that they could use in the bath and pool and I was apparently never without them, though that was long before I could read or talk!

2. Have you ever read a book that made you so distraught that you couldn’t even think about reading again for a while? If so what is it?

SO MANY TIMES. I’ve had a lot of book hang-overs. Most recently they’ve been from Dangerous Girls by Abigial Haas and Origin by Jennifer L. Armentrout.

3. Favourite Genre to read?

YA Paranormal!

4. What book have you read the most?

Any of the Harry Potter books have each been read upwards of 7-10 times.

5. Favorite character in a book that was not the main character?

I really loved Zuze from the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series!

6. A book that made you laugh?

City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare- I like Jace’s sense of humor.

7. Do you prefer reading a book or reading an e-book?

Physical book by far!

8. The author you would most like to meet and why?

JK Rowling, because she was an integral part of creating my childhood.

9. What is your favorite pet from a book?

Crookshanks!

10. Name a book that you have read because you watched the movie or tv show

Probably Gossip Girl. I had read the first few books prior to the show but really finished it because of the show (although they were so different) and man I hate to be that person but I really enjoyed the show a lot more.

  1. Great answers, I enjoyed this! Congrats on the reward as well. I completely agree with your answers to number 5. I only follow bloggers who interact with their audience, that’s a big part of blogging for me. 🙂

P.S. I’m looking forward to reading your review of Trouble as well (I’m holding off reading it for the moment because I’m in the midst of writing my own review and I don’t want to be influenced, LOL).

    • I totally understand- I wish sometimes that I could write my reviews in a bubble to keep from being influenced by others’ opinions! I’m really excited to hear what you think though, and to see how our reviews compare!
