Top Ten Authors I Own the Most Books From

TTTcustombannerTop Ten Tuesday is a fun weekly feature hosted by the wonderful blog The Broke and The Bookish. This week’s theme is “Top Ten Authors I Own the Most Books From.” (This will be in no particular order for me)

1) Meg Cabot- She is the author of the first YA series I ever read (The Princess Diaries, which I am currently rereading now) and I have stayed pretty faithful to her. I own the Princess Diaries series, the Mediator series, The All American Girl series, The Heather Wells series…basically for a while I would buy whatever she published (not that I don’t now, but some of her more recent YA series I haven’t really gotten into).

2) Jodi Picoult- In high school I went through a massive Jodi Picoult phase after reading The Pact and Nineteen Minutes on a whim. That summer I purchased many, many of her books from Borders and worked my way through her tragic yet brilliant books. I’ve kind of fallen off of the bandwagon recently and haven’t read anything by her in a while, but I recently picked up Lone Wolf and am excited to get back into her writing!

3) Cecily von Ziegesar- Another summer I became obsessed with the Gossip Girl novels, and purchased all of them from Barnes & Noble, and then moved on to the It Girl series. While I know that after book 6 or 7 Gossip Girl was ghostwritten (as I believe most of the It Girl series was), Cecily is takes up a lot of real estate on my bookshelves.

4) JK Rowling- Since I own so many editions of the Harry Potter books (all American hardbacks, all American regular paperbacks, the new special-edition paperbacks, the UK editions of books 1, 2, & 3, various copies in other languages like Spanish and German, plus all of the additional add-ons she’s published, like Quidditch Through the Ages, etc) there is an entire shelf on my bookcase that’s just dedicated to different editions of Harry Potter books. I’m not a hoarder, I swear! I just like to collect them, and often when friends and family are traveling abroad I ask them to get me a copy of a Harry Potter book from that country.

5) Carolyn Keene- Which is actually a pseudonym for the various ghost-writers who wrote the Nancy Drew mysteries, which I explain my love for in this post. I own a lot of the original yellowbacks, resulting in Ms. Keene having her own shelf on my bookcase.

6) Ann M. Martin- So I don’t actively display her books because I don’t have room on my shelves to, but I own boxes full of the Babysitter’s Club books. This was hands down my favorite book series as a child and many, many years later I am still hauling them around every time that I move. I just can’t bear to part with them, they were such an integral part of my childhood.

7) Cassandra Clare- I have faithfully purchased all of The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices books. Clare is an auto-buy author for me, if she writes it I will pre-order it from Amazon. I am in love with her Shadowhunter world.

8) P.C. Cast- This is due to the fact that I purchased and read a lot of the House of Night series until I gave up, realizing that it was not ending in any foreseeable, reasonable future. So now I have an incomplete series which irritates my bookish OCD, but at least the covers are pretty!

9) Jennifer L. Armentrout- Thanks to the fact that I fell in love with the Lux series, I will basically read anything this woman writes. Her collection on my bookshelf is slowly but steadily growing.

10) Maggie Stiefvater- Another author whose real estate in my library is slowly growing, as I’m finding her writing to be more and more magnificent with every new book she publishes. I have committed myself to the Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy and the Raven Boys, and still need to get my hands on Sinner and The Scorpio Races.

Looking back on this list, it’s pretty evident that a majority of the authors that I own a ton of books from are authors who have invested their careers in writing lengthy series that I’ve become hooked on and thus continued to order installments from. There are a lot of great authors that I read whom are not credited properly by this post because they are either newer (like Marissa Meyer or Laini Taylor) or I’ve checked out their books from the library instead.

Did any of my authors make your list? Are the numbers of your books reflective of your actual favorite authors? Let me know in the comments, and link back to your TTT post!

  1. There’s definitely some authors on this list that I need to read. Maggie Stiefvater is one that particularly stands out. I keep hearing such amazing things about her writing! I used to LOVE the Babysitter’s Club. I’m sad I got rid of them.

  2. Curse lengthy series! Okay, not really. I love them. I didn’t mean that. Lol.
I love a lot of these authors! I haven’t tried the Lux series. You’d recommend it, yes?
Good ol’ JK is going to be on everyone’s list this week, I think. 🙂

  3. I love that you own so many Harry Potter books. I’ve been looking to purchase a box set just so I can stare at how pretty it is. And Maggie Stiefvater’s The Scorpio Races’ awesomeness is the reason I read The Raven Boys, which I love too much for words, so I hope you get your hands on it soon.

  4. I have a feeling that J.K. Rowling’s books are going to be the most popular on this particular Top Ten Tuesday — it certainly made my list! Your other books look great too!

  5. I know how you feel about not being a hoarder, but owning lots of books. I have several versions of the Harry Potter’s too. I like your idea of getting foreign covers. (Now if only I could read them!) Did you pre-order The Iron Trial? I did. 😀

    • I haven’t! I’m sort of on a book-buying restriction since my library holds list is so long, but I’m intrigued to see how the series turns out (isn’t it supposed to be more middle-grade?)

      • Yeah it’s a middle grade book, well at least the first one is. They might progress as the characters age. Libraries are great! I haven’t gotten to mine in a month.
