Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature hosted by  Tynga’s Reviews where bloggers share the books that they’ve added to their shelves this week, whether borrowed, bought, virtual, physical, etc!

I’ve been rather quiet this week, mainly because it’s been busy at work and I’m working 5/7 days (including most of the weekend). Yet I did get one of my most anticipated books of the summer in at the library, and while I was picking up my hold another book caught my eye as well!

I’m so excited to read the conclusion of the Grisha trilogy! I unfortunately don’t own these books (I’ll probably pick them up when they’re all in paperback) but I started reading them this spring from the library and for me it’s one of those series that gets better with each book.

cruelbeautyOn my way out Cruel Beauty caught my eye. I’ve seen a lot of bloggers who have read this, or at least who have featured its beautiful cover on Top Ten Tuesday posts. I’m excited to see how this loose retelling of Beauty and the Beast turned out. I’ve been on a contemporary burnout lately so I’ve purposely been gravitating toward fantasy and paranormal lately, and I’ve found it really refreshing.

Were you satisfied with the ending of the Grisha trilogy? Does Cruel Beauty live up to the expectations of the beautiful cover? Let me know in the comments! Link up to your STS post as well and I’ll stop by and check it out!

  1. A nice small haul this week. I have heard amazing things about the Grisha trilogy, I own the first two and plan to get to them very soon. Cruel Beauty is one I read but didn’t enjoy very much, it just didn’t work for me but most people seem to love that one. I hope you enjoy all of your books this week 🙂 Here’s my STS.

  2. Ooooh, Cruel Beauty! I haven’t read it yet but have heard mixed things about it… seems to be a bit of a love-it-or-hate-it book. Beauty and the Beast is one of my favourite fairy tales so I’m interested but also a little wary, lol. Hope you enjoy it!

  3. I haven’t read cruel beauty, but I did read the Grisha trilogy. I’m mostly satisfied with the ending, though I felt the need to rant a bit when I finished. I look forward to seeing what you think of it. It’s one of those almost impossible to write a non spoiler review books.

    • I’ve noticed I haven’t seen reviews with too much information (whether negative or positive) so the ending must be really interesting if it’s such a spoiler mine-field!
