Sunday Funday is a weekly(ish) post I’ve started to recap the bookish (and sometimes not-so-bookish) happenings in my life the past week! Feel free to participate, just link back!

July 7-July 14, 2014

This week I reached 150 followers! I know that this isn’t a huge amount for many bloggers, but for me it’s an exciting milestone in my blogging progress. I’ve found the book blogging community to be so welcoming and supportive and I’m excited to keep growing. So thank you so much to everyone who reads and follows!

allegiant

I just received a copy of Allegiant today, courtesy of my aunt who just finished the series and is obsessed (she’s already bought and finished the Four story collection). I actually read and loved Divergent and Insurgent, but I’ve neglected to get around to the third installment because of a lot negative reviews (and I know what the major spoilers are and I don’t like them at all!) You can read my thoughts on the Divergent film here.

I’m in the middle of two books, The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer and Since You’ve Been Gone. I’m usually pretty book monogamous but I started Mara Dyer because I’ve had a hard time being motivated to read Since You’ve Been Gone, which I’m attributing to contemporary burnout. I’ve read a lot of contemporary lately and took a break from it last week to read The Raven Boys and now all I want to do is read eerie, magical, paranormal fiction. Do you ever get burnt out with certain genres? The only thing is I have to read Since You’ve Been Gone fast since it’s a library loan!

What Happened Here This Week:

Tuesday: I posted my Top Ten Blogging Confessions

Wednesday: I talked about my mixed feelings in my Love Letters to the Dead review.

Saturday: I raved about how happy The Raven Boys made me.

Great Bookish Posts this Week in the Blogging World:

Asti at Oh the Books! reflected on why book blogging is worth it for her.

The Notebook Sisters discussed how it feels to come across your name in a book.

  1. Yay! Congratulations on all your followers!
Yes, I get burnt-out sometimes. Not often, because I normally read a pretty diverse set of books, but recently I’ve found myself not reading dystopian, no matter how many raves they get. I just got to that point where I keep finding too many similarities between books and it makes me cranky and overly critical. I think I need to step back for a few months before re-reading some of them.

  2. Congrats on 150 followers! I’m a newbie but I love the design of your blog; it’s adorable. The content is great too, of course. Good luck with Allegiant…I definitely struggled a bit to get through it.

    • Thank you! I tried my best to incorporate my favorite color (blue) and elements of my personal style! I’m scared to start allegiant- to be honest I may wait until after the Insurgent movie comes out because then my curiosity will be peaked again!

  3. Congrats on 150 followers, that’s awesome! Looking forward to seeing what you think of Allegiant, I’ve wanted to read it for ages but I’ve been patiently waiting for the price to go down. I too have been majorly spoiled, I hope it doesn’t impact our enjoyment of the book too much. 🙂

    • Thank you! I don’t think I’ll be picking it up for a while, because I feel like I’m dreading reading it because I know what happens in the end, but I do need closure so I’m sure I’ll pick it up eventually!
