Sunday Funday: Week in Review [6]

Posted July 6, 2014 by Cristina (Girl in the Pages) in Sunday Funday, Weekly Features/Memes / 5 Comments

sundayfundaynewSunday Funday is a weekly(ish) post I’ve started to recap the bookish (and sometimes not-so-bookish) happenings in my life the past week! Feel free to participate, just link back!

June 30-July 6, 2014

As most of you know, I just got back from Hawaii this week! I got home in time to celebrate the fourth of July with my family and boyfriend, and yesterday we saw The Fault In Our Stars movie (which was quite faithful to the book, and I’ll give more of my thoughts on it later this week) and ate at my favorite Japanese restaurant (we have a not-on-purpose habit of eating non American cuisine over the fourth of July holiday for some reason).

I’ve also enjoyed a nice vacation from work, but I’ll be heading back starting tomorrow, into what is our busiest time of year. Despite this, I’m hoping to get quite a bit of reading done (so I don’t fall victim to library due dates) and need to catch up on posting several reviews from books I read over vacation!

Aside from reading, I also enjoy certain video games, tv shows, and musical artists. A game series I grew up playing was the Nancy Drew mystery games by Her Interactive, no doubt drawn to them by the fact that I loved the book series growing up. Though I’ve never met anyone else in person who plays the games, the games have a large and loyal following and can be found at your local Target. This week I finished the newest in the series, The Shattered Medallion. It’s really a treat to be able to play in a world that you’ve grown to love through a book series.

Great bookish posts this week in the blogging world:

The Notebook Sisters featured books with nice parental units, and pondered the absence of most parents in YA.

Stefani at Caught Read Handed started a great new weekly feature, Quote Quoted.

What Happened Here This Week:

Wednesday: Dreams of Gods & Monsters sparked mixed feelings in my review.

Saturday: I recapped my recent Hawaiian vacation!

  1. Thanks for linking up to my post!
I hope you had a fantastic trip to Hawaii. I’m looking forward to your thoughts on Love Letters to the Dead and Second Chance Summer, and I hope you enjoy The Raven Boys and Since You’ve Been Gone (both great books for different reasons, in my opinion!). 🙂

    • The Raven Boys is very different from anything I’ve read in a while! I’m excited to take part in your new feature, so I was happy to link up to it! Have a great week!

  2. I’m reading The Raven Boys right now too (and loving it so far)! I’m definitely looking forward to your review of Second Chance Summer, it’s caught my eye a couple of times so I’ve been looking out for reviews before I decide if I’d like to add it to my TBR list or not.

    • It’s so different than what I’ve read in the paranormal fiction genre, I really like it so far too! I hope you like my Second Chance Summer review, it should be up later this week! Thanks for stopping by 🙂
