Top Ten Books On My Summer TBR List Recommended by Other Bloggers

TTTcustombannerTop Ten Tuesday is hosted by the fantastic blog, The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s post is “Top Ten Books On My Summer TBR List,” but I already listed my personal summer TBR picks a few weeks ago in my “Ten Books that WILL Be in My Beach Bag” post. This week I put my own spin on the topic, choosing to highlight the Top Ten Books on My Summer TBR List that have come from recommendations I’ve seen on other blogs so far this summer!

1) To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han- I can’t imagine sending my exes letters about what I really think, so I’m interested to see how this mishap plays out for the protagonist!

2) Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson- Matson has a gift for writing great summer contemporary novels with heavier underlying themes, and I’ve been eager to try another book by her!

3) Dangerous Boys by Abigail Haas- This book has mysterious, angsty, and anxiety-laden written all over it, and the blurb online hooked me! Three teens enter an abandoned estate and only two come out alive? I cannot not find out what happened!

4) The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski- Dystopian drama, ancient societal influences, and a gorgeous cover are enough to have me dying to get my hands on this one.

5) The Truth About Alice by Jennifer Matthieu- I am so so interested in reading a YA book that deals with the topic of slut-shaming, and how stigmatized sexuality is for females and how victim blaming impacts women.

6) These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman – I could say the premise of the book seems original (and it does, as outerspace and extraterrestrials seem an underdeveloped area in YA) and that’s why I want to read it, which is true. But the cover art is what’s been catching my eye for months in the blogging world, it’s SO gorgeous (hopefully the content is just as good!)

7) Pivot Point by Kasie West- This book has literally been popping up everywhere and the cover is so pretty and mysterious!

8) Sex & Violence by Carrie Mesrobian – I feel like I haven’t come across many YA novels that deal so candidly with these topics although they are present in many, many teenager’s lives. I’m excited to read this gritty and raw novel after seeing an intriguing review of it today.

9) Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler- I’ve heard this novel deals with death and grief despite masquerading as a contemporary romance, and the juxtaposition of the two topics sounds interesting.

10) If I Stay by Gayle Forman– I saw the movie trailer and it nearly moved me to tears, so I must read the book first!

Have you read any of these/would recommend them? Have you seen them frequenting the blogosphere lately? Are any of these in your top ten this week? Let me know and link back to your TTT post, I’d love to see what’s on your lists!

  1. We’ve talked about Since You’ve Been Gone a few times. I’m looking forward to your thoughts. You know I loved it. 🙂
I also really want to read To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and The Truth about Alice.
Personally, I did not like If I Stay, but I’m interested in what you think.

  2. I would say that you win the award this week for “List of Books with the Most Beautiful Covers” award. lol! They all look amazing, I would read all of them (and I have read one of them)! Great list! 🙂

  3. Oh wow! You’ve got some amazing reads coming up this summer. I loved The Truth About Alice, Pivot Point and These Broken Stars. I can’t wait to read your reviews of these books! Enjoy.

  4. I’m interested in reading The Winner’s Curse as well, based on how other bloggers really love it. Since You’ve Been Gone as well.

  5. Of all the book on your list I’ve read, I’d say The Winner’s Curse is the one I was most impressed by. I’ve never come across a protagonist quite like Kestrel. I can’t believe I waited so long to read the book. Great list and happy reading.

This looks like a great list for summer! To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is next up on my book rotation, and I’m becoming more and more curious about Since You’ve Been Gone.

Pivot Point is so good! I hope you like it!

I didn’t really love If I Stay when I first read it a few years ago, but with the movie coming out, I might give it another try. The first time, I read it for a book club and I wasn’t really in the mood for it. That can ruin any book, sadly.

    • Very true- I definitely have to be in the right mood to read something, or else it really, really drags for me. I’m really motivated to read If I Stay because I want some context for the movie. Thanks for stopping by!

  7. I hope you love These Broken Stars! I haven’t read The Winner’s Curse, but that one is definitely on my TBR list too – I’ve heard so many great things about it. Looks like you’ve got a lot of great reads coming up this summer! 🙂
